I came into Mizu Sushi recently and had one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I went to pay my bill with a $100 bill from 1990. For context: bills printed before 2009 do not have the blue security strip because it wasn’t introduced until much later. Instead of simply acknowledging this, what I presume was the manager came out and immediately told me my bill was fake.
I asked if they had a counterfeit marker to check it—they did not. I explained I had received it from tip money at work (where we use a marker AND uv light) and asked for clarification: was she refusing to accept it due to lack of a blue strip, or was she actually saying it was counterfeit? She repeatedly assured me it was fake, even though she had no real way of verifying it. Her “method” was shining a regular pen light on it (not even a UV light) and immediately saying it’s fake.
I ended up paying with my card, but I told her they should really invest in an actual counterfeit detector pen or UV light if they’re going to accuse customers of using fake money. Instead, I was made to feel like I was trying to scam them when I had a completely legitimate bill.
This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially from management. If you don’t have the right tools to verify cash, don’t accuse your customers of fraud. Train your staff better and invest in...
Read moreI went to Mizu 2:45pm, dinning area was open. I ordered 육계장 Yukkejang. I regret ordering it and having to pay $14 dollars for food that was not made properly. First of all, wrong meat was used. It is supposed to made with 양지머리 brisket. The meat should have been cooked a long time, surrendering all its juice to the soup and it should be soft enough to be pulled apart by fingers. Wrong meat and not enough time simmering. The meat was tough and chewy for it as undercooked and a cheaper meet was used. The result was the soup where 감칠맛 full savory flavor was missing. The result was a very spicy soup without depth that cause sharp stingy spiciness . NOT GOOD! It is not worth paying $3 for. If the chief is a Korean, SHAME ON YOU! You made Korean food look bad to people. If the chief is non-Korean, nice try but please check out Youtube channels to see how others make more authentic Korean Yukejang. For example, you are not supposed to put 콩나물 but 숙주나물 in 육계장. But you put 콩나물 in it. There was not enough mushroom to make it more flavor full. If you want to know how to make it better, visit Seoul Garden in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I DO NOT recommend this place for authentic, delicious...
Read moreThis place is an all around 5 star, honestly. I heard about the restaurant through co-workers, and when I finally made it, I was not disappointed.
The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly and the food is delicious. I typically come for lunch as I work close by. First time at Mizu, I had a ramen bowl for lunch. It was absolutely massive. I was unable to finish it, but it was so good that I actually forced myself to clear the bowl. I've also had the Hot Stone Bibimbap, which is currently my favorite dish.
I recently came for dinner with my husband and son and it was worth the 35 minute drive. My husband had the bibimbap with tofu, I had the spicy, soft tofu stew, and my son had the teriyaki chicken and steamed dumplings. My husband is picky and when we finished, he said - "we found a new spot". So I'm guessing he enjoyed his meal.
As I type this, all I can think about is how I should have made the 35 - ish minute drive, instead of eat at home.
I did forget to mention, that sushi is very popular here. I have not had it as I'm trying to go through the hot dishes first, but during dinner, the sushi boat seemed to be very...
