I don’t go out to eat that often, but stopped by City Delicatessen to purchase a reasonably priced meal. I’m a broke college student. My money matters. I don’t have income to flagrantly waste. When I stop by a restaurant to eat, I expect to be fed. That’s the bargain restaurants make to guests. If the business fails to deliver their side of the bargain — a sustaining meal — a customer is quite justified to feel robbed.

City Delicatessen robbed me. While I paid the full price of a meal, some $15, I did not receive one in return. Instead, the ersatz Deli offered a meager appetizer; hors d'oeuvres; a happy meal without the joy. The quantity of food was insufficient. This travesty of a sandwich would hardly feed a child, let alone a full grown man. Rather than dignify the insult, I sought a refund instead. The store would not oblige. Money spent, though never fed, I shuffled off, aggrieved.

Like Holland itself, the City Delicatessen is a poor parody of the real thing. I give City...

Wanted to try this place since I love a good sandwich shop. The service was awesome, super nice. Where it wasn’t so great was the food. My three picky littles split the cheese flatbread pizza, and said it was good. My oldest got a pepperoni flatbread pizza and he said it tasted like it was a frozen pizza. He’s a bit more of a tough critic. My husband got the corned beef sandwich and was mildly pleased with it. He was very disappointed in the size of the sandwich for how much it cost. He was shocked that the sandwich was over $12 and was the size of a child’s sandwich. Also, it looked like the side of chips was half of a single serving bag dumped on the tray. It was weird. He said it was just ok tasting. I got the tuna sandwich grilled on panini bread and I thought it was pretty good. My sandwich was a pretty good size, but it’s like they split a single serve bag between my husbands tray and mine. It was a pricy meal for a couple sandwiches and a couple...

yeaaaaaa this place kinda sucked ass with the food. Went there for the Tulip festival and ate at the delicatessen since they had a special menu for the festival. And man, did it suck. I was with Dutch people who thought the food was pretty bad as well. I thought the pea soup was passable, but that is all. I tried the meatball sandwich, which was bland, and the pig-in-a-blanket, the sausage was awful.

I think one of my friends tried some of the american food and that was better. So maybe get that when you go there? And I saw they had an ice cream bar as well, where you can pick your flavours and toppings.

The place looks like a diner. Clean and everything but the wait staff wasn't the greatest either. One person waited almost 15 mins after we were all served for his meal, and finally had to go and...

Amazing sandwich, I tried their special, the not so ordinary BLT, it was awesome, local cinnamon bread toasted with goat cheese and some delicious sauce with the usual BLT accoutrements, I just wish it was bigger because I didn't want to stop eating it!! My wife loved her chicken salad wrap. And they have the great lakes chips which I love.
