China Garden — Restaurant in Holly Springs

GARDEN OF EDEN: Most walk up Chinese restaurants are hit and miss. It's a "takeout" stop on the way home at best. But I decided to sit down and have quick early dinner and was very pleasantly surprised.

The food was exceptional, I ordered the "Happy Family" combo and it was delicious. Crisp broccoli, tender meats and the rice was fluffy and flavorful. But it was the happy family that greeted me that made all the difference.

Warm and friendly, the woman at the counter was overly gracious in her greetings. As if I were a guest in her own home. That continued after I sat down. Usually at these places you're called to the counter when your food is ready, but here I was served with a smile at my table and again served with friendliness.

All in all a very cool experience. I just wish I lived nearby so I could order "take out" and experience the positive energy and...

We order $150 worth of food for New Year's Eve. The woman who took our order was very nice and our order was ready on time. They even gave us an order of complimentary doughnuts, but other than that, the food was awful. They advertise "New York Style", but I am from NJ and have enjoyed real New York Chinese food and this was nothing like it. The food was watery, mushy, and the fried food tasted like the oil was old. To make matters worse, we ordered 8 egg rolls and 2 shrimp rolls. There were two unmarked packages of 4 and one unmarked package of 2. It turned out that the package of 2 contained one shrimp roll and 1 egg roll and someone with allergic to shell fish ended up with a shrimp roll and got sick. Not a good experience to...

Can you give negative stars? They were very fast, but it looked like my food had been sitting in the container under a heat lamp for a good amount of time. (I got my food just as they put it out about 5 minutes after I ordered it and took it home). All of the vegetables in the fried rice looked rotten. A carrot (I think it was a carrot) was half orange and half brown. The onions had brown spots on them, and the chicken looked like it had been soaked in water. I called them to ask if I could get a refund and they told me the only way I could get one was if I brought the food back, so I had to drive all the way back to the restaurant to get a refund for the gross...
