TLDR; OVER-PRICED POOR QUALITY FOOD WITH INATTENTIVE AND RUDE WAIT STAFF. -------- My husband and I went there for an early dinner on Saturday June 4th. We intrigued by the menu and high reviews on Google but we had one of these worst dining experiences ever after arriving. We ordered the pork belly/scallops and beef wellington, which each came with soup and salad. The soup was mediocre with no noteworthy flavor and the caesar salads were pretty flavorless - I have bought better dressing from the grocery store. My husband had the pork belly, which was supposed to be warm but it was served to him with multiple pieces cold. While in contrast my beef wellington, which was requested rare, was drastically overcooked and tough. It tasted like a chunk of roast beef was used instead of a filet. I was quite disappointed, as I have made better tasting, cheaper cuts of steak at home and honestly I've fed my dogs nicer steaks than that. The pork belly entree was $56 and the wellington $44, for that price I would expect significantly higher quality in both the ingredients and preparation of the food. The service was slow and we were there for about two hours despite only ordering the entree meal. The waitress tried to offer to get our food remade but we had kids to get home too and considering how long we waited in the first place and the poor quality we were uninterested. Disappointed to say the waitress was very rude and condescending. She was not attentive, asked me how old my children were 3 times because I assume she didn't pay enough attention the first two times, and was hardly at the table. When we complained she argued to try to get our food remade despite us insisting we were uninterested and then said very rudely that we should have complained sooner if we didn't like the food. However, she was so inattentive and hardly around, that we did complain at the first chance she came after having a moment to taste our food. Extremely poor service and low quality. Considering the price of the entrees being anywhere from 30 to 60 dollars, you are far better off to drive a little further south towards Ann arbor, Birmingham and Detroit, where you can get fresher and nicer quality meals with significantly better service for the same price or less. I suppose to a certain extent you are paying to enjoy the history of the hotel, but the dining room seats are covered in cuts and ripped fabric, not well restored or maintained, so that greatly detracts from the experience. There are other places with better ambiance.

Wow what a beautiful experience at a legendary hotel and restaurant! Me and my girlfriend were celebrating her birthday and as it turned out her birthday was the same date as when the Hotel burned down in 1913 and again in 1973 both times at 9pm. And wouldn't you know it we were there at between 7pm and 9pm. We ordered the incredible New Zealand rack of Lamb Chops which was exquisite for her and for myself the best Lake Superior Whitefish I've EVER had! Kirsty was out waiter and she was very cool with is and gave above and beyond service! It was great to see some other guy Also celebrating a birthday as well which always feels nice! After reading some history of the ghosts that I've heard about that haunted the Holly Hotel, we did smell unexpected cigar smoke which was said to have come from a man killed or that died in the Hotel! We got a nice tour of the hotel in many of it's great rooms and downstairs bar! And to top it all off our bill was even the same date at her birthday at 1/19/2022!!! This was the ultimate dining experience! Will most definitely be back

Great spot to go if you want a fancy dinner experience. Kind of similar experience to the Whitney in Detroit. We got liver paté, Victoria onion soup, and stuffed game hen. It was all fantastic and so were the cocktails The basement has a jazz/comedy show venue. There are rotating shows every weekend, and they serve a different menu of foods plus have a full bar. I had a great time, and I honestly drank too much to drive. It's not easy to get an Uber in Holly, but I got a ride home from my girlfriend's brother. Great guy, I give him 5 stars also.

We had our wedding at the hotel last summer. I feel the need to write a review to warn other potential brides. The upstairs rooms are shabby, not in any chic way and the wedding package lacked a lot of the basics. The wedding planner, Kim, is very friendly, but not detail oriented and she isn't on top of things. The issues: the wedding planner lost our cake picture the day before the wedding texting me urgently to send another, We had to send her the groupon codes several times, the men had to dress in the very old bathroom, although we asked repeatedly we were not given a rehersal so my bridesmaids didn't know where to stand and the person dealing with the music wasn't prepared causing some odd moments, the dressing room for the bride is bright yellow (which makes for terrible pictures of the bride and her ladies getting ready), lacks a proper area to hang the dresses (the stand fell over when we tried to put our hanger on it so we ended up laying the dress on the couch), has a beaten up old mirror, was extremely hot since it didn't have air or a fan, the door itself was very battered, the couches were very worn with springs showing and they were uncomfortable. I was embarrassed. We had to ask for snacks in the dressing room and felt like we were putting them out for that and ended up with about 10 cheese cubes and a few crackers. When our guests arrived, there was no one to seat them for the ceremony, people were sent upstairs and given no more guidance. We worked with their florist and told her we wanted the flowers at 3pm, the flowers arrived at 5:45 for the 6pm ceremony. That meant I didn't get any pictures with them since we took pictures before the ceremony. There was no explanation given or apology. The planner met us at 3pm and handed us off to a 20 year old waitress who was in charge of our wedding. We asked many times to meet with the planner and she was busy elsewhere. She had promised to show me special places to take pictures and never did. Also, after the ceremony everyone was sent tot he hallway to stand awkwardly as we looked around for someone to guide us as to what to do next! The cake was disappointing, it tasted good but the quality of the decoration wasn't as I expected. And frankly one of the cakes wasn't the flavor we had asked for. I know the planner had written it down correctly, but I was disappointed when I saw that. I didn't get to taste that cake. The cake was cut so that there was none left over and everyone only got one piece, including me. As far as the cost, we bought the groupon for 50 people. We ended up with only 40 paying $4k. I would have liked a discount for the 10 people or at lease a coupon for future dinners. The young people who served the dinner were amazing. Everyone was impressed with them. If I had to do it again I would use my money in...

Sunday buffet is not too good -- actually horrid. For the price, we expected chef quality food items. If this food was prepared by a chef, he needs to be fired and they need to hire a new chef. Omelets are skimpy and added vegtables are cut in tiny pieces and are pre cooked, soggy and skimpy and have been sitting around for hours. The person preparing the omelet had no idea what he was doing. No cheese choice and i did not like the cold cheese thrown on top instead of melted inside. Neither myself nor my husband could find the items we ordered in our omelets because they were diced so small. Meat choices are few. Sausage pattys or ham would have been nice. This time it was greasy, tough , overcooked sausage links and cold prime rib that had been sitting out for hours, not even under a heat lamp, and was way over cooked, dry, and tough. Bacon was also offered but it was medium rare and extremly fatty and like rubber -- disgusting and probubly unsafe to eat because the burner had gone out and it was barely warm. The piece of prime rib being sliced from was the size of a deck of cards and looked like the dark end that was left over from another time. WAY overcooked, dry and unseasoned. Roasted potatoes and soggy squash and onions was tasteless and wet. No other potato choice -- hash browns or diced potatoes would have been appreciated. Burner had gone out and veggies were cold.French toast was way overly sweet and soggy and was also barely warm. Let us top our own french toast please. Salad was Ok but no dressing choices. Server was nice but very slow. Both my husband and myself got bad diarrea a short while after leaving. Folks-- this buffet is pathetic for the price they are charging. If it hadnt been a Sunday I would probubly have called the health department. Really -- you would be better off to hit the breakfast bar at Big Boys. ( and also saved yourself a boat load of money). I loved the environment here so we bought a membership and now I am sorry I did. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I hope they do better for lunch and dinner off the menu. Even then , the food choices look a little funky. Never again will we do the...
