Pretty good and authentic Thai food. We tried the Tom Yum Noodle, it is authentic enough and the broth is rich, I am used to a more bold and brighter flavor on Tom Yum Kung soup. Not really happy with the imitation crab meat on top. make this whole soup feels cheap.
The Khao Soi (curry noodle) was best of the noodle soup tonight, genuine taste and a rich coconut flavor. I asked for "thai spicy", expected to be 5 pepper strong. but it is still just a medium heat level. it is curry soup with chicken. The chicken is dark meat. but that is a plus for me. Dark meat is just so much more flavorful and better in texture.
We tasted the Ramen with Wonton, not expecting much since we are Cantonese, and we KNOW WONTON. the wonton on top used pork filling, which adds flavor, I generally like better than only shrimp wonton. but they should really mixed shrimp and pork, this pork wonton is a big too firm on the bite. roast pork slice is such bright red that you know it is coloring. For those who doesn't know, the Chinese roast pork (Char Siu) has a deep BBQ red color and honey dripping sweet sauce. the deep red color came from roasting and the sweet marinate. not a single drop of coloring should be used, but in US, many kitchen just do not know how to roast it to such color perfection and they resorts to the use of food coloring.
Fish Taco was great, light, flavorful and fresh tasting.
Tuna Yukke is good too, a bit strong on seasoning, I would prefer a little light on seasoning to let the freshness of the fish come through. But a good balance of wasabi flavor.
overall, solid chef, not a bad attempt for casual dinner. It just makes me feel satisfying to have so many choices of noodle and rice dishes. Many restaurants are not willing to make so many starch heavy dishes, afraid that customer would just get filled up and not ordering the second item. To me this actually wins my repeated visit for a quick lunch and or casual dinner.
Special mention to the choice of sake. They stock my wife's favorite Kiri peach infused sake. light, dry and sweet. I am usually not into sweet wine, but this one is done right, sweet but dry, rich fruit scent. not easily available. Price is $15. that is a great price for that sake, I would just buy it and take it home. because we used to pay from from mail order...
Read moreI normally like this place. I had been going here for lunch for awhile. The food has been a little worse recently though still good. Maybe they changed cooks and are adjusting.
I worked in the restaurant biz as a kid and through college. So I am sympathetic to things that go on. I am easy to wait on. I eat basically the same thing when I come here so the staff staff knows what I am getting. I tip $5 on my $12 lunch. I come after The lunch rush and I eat and go fairly quickly. When I worked I'd say that's an good customer. Regulars that easy and don't need much attention and tip 40% are what you want. And you take care of them.
Today (7/31/17) I was running late and got there right before 3 (like 2:58). I sat down and the waitress (who waits on me all the time) yells over "lunch is over at 3". I showed her the time. 3:00. Not 3:05. It was 2:59 while she was wandering my way. Nope. No lunch for me. "Seriously you are going to get rid of a good customer over this?" Yes we are.
So I left.
If that's how you treat really good customers, who tip well and bring other people out to eat at your place then I'd prefer to spend my money elsewhere. It annoyed me enough to write a review and I rarely write reviews. (And when I do they are positive). If I owned this place I would not want this kind of unnecessary aggravation and loss of business. And mostly I am posting this for their benefit. One person writing a review probably means their are lots who had a bad experience and did not bother and just...
Read moreIf you can't trust their policies, how can you trust their food? We've gone to the place many times and had good experiences. I invited my friends to join us for dinner. One of them said the salmon tempura wasn't great. Nevertheless, we continued to enjoy our dinner until it was time to pay. The waitress asked us if to split the checks, we said yes. The checks arrived and my friends paid with debit. We chose to pay in cash to get the 10% off. We were told we can't get the 10% off because you can't split checks. Then why were we asked if we can split? Then they said the offer can only be done for one check and one table. We said, only one check in this table is paying with cash, so the offer is only going for 1 table as per your policies (by the way, there was no writing about this exception which I think is illegal). So the waitress agreed and took our pay. So what's the problem? The manager told a DIFFERENT waitress to come and explain to us their vague policies. To avoid further conflict and save us time we paid the full amount but asked to see the manager. The manager didn't even bother to come. My point is, if the manager doesn't want to greet his customers, provide detailed and fair policies, then how can you trust the food that contains raw material? This is exactly how people get food poisoning. Good luck to whoever goes there, we will no longer go there. -past...
