UJ's Asian Bistro — Restaurant in Holmdel Township

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. The food is decent, but there are plenty of other Japanese and Chinese restaurants that are 1. cheaper and 2. don't mess up your order and make you pay extra for it. We called and placed a delivery order, paid $61 for three combos that cost $20 each on the menu, they gave us the completely wrong meals. All we received was meat, none of the extras that come with it like rice and vegetables or our sushi rolls. We come back, and the owner TELLS ME I NEED TO PAY $15 MORE because they charged us wrong. Well, first of all I paid $61 and $9 for a tip, so that means she wanted me to pay $85 for three combo meals that THEY messed up. Not only did I have to pay for a tip for a delivery driver when I ended up having to come to the restaurant myself anyway, but it was THEIR mistake in the first place. She then argued with me for 20 minutes stating she put the rice in the bag when obviously that was the entire issue in it of itself... THE ORDER WAS INCORRECT, that's the whole point! But yet she claimed I was a "scammer" because "She bagged the order herself!" and even insulted us as we walked out of the door, "next time you want to scam don't come here". Very unprofessional and impolite especially considering I've come here since I was a kid, but they've lost my and all of my friends and families business. If you scroll through these other reviews, at least 5 other people had the same experience, where THE RESTAURANT messes up the order and THE CUSTOMER has to pay. There are plenty of other places more deserving of your money. Don't order here unless you want to be charged more and insulted because they messed up your order. 1st of all you guys never asked if we was dining in.

2nd the place looks like a regular run down Chinese spot from the outside doesn’t even remind anybody of a sit down restaurant. So when I paid and sat down I was expecting getting everything in Togo containers on a tray like every other run down spot but to see that we got treated different y’all are weird

3rd how was all the food ready and packed to go if we sat down asap and if we didn’t receive anything for 10 min after sitting down and got the skimpy noodles?

If you see we switched to dine in why wouldn’t you treat us like dine in customers…….. Is it because we paid already?

Also what was I suppose to do with the edamame skins in your book? Just put them on the table didn’t give something to put it on.

Original review: The service in this place absolutely sucked extremely rude all of the staff. Didn’t ask if we wanted to dine in so we just ordered payd and sat down. This is THE place to get Chinese food around here. After First Wok's quality went down the drain, me and my boyfriend began the search for a new go-to Chinese food place for take-out. I’m so glad we found out about this place because this place checks every box and then some. For our first order ever, we got fried wontons, boneless barbecue spare ribs, beef lomein combo, and sesame chicken combo. The fried wontons were the best I’ve ever had, and the boneless ribs were also amazing. As for the main meals, when I opened my combo, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of beef in my lomein. At other places, you get maybe 5-6 pieces of beef, so little that if someone asks for a bite, you say “hell nah this is mine”. But there was plenty of beef to go around and that’s how it should be. My boyfriend loved his chicken and shared a bite and that was some crazy good stuff. For the final test, the pork fried rice the combos came with were perfect! We got takeout again a few weeks later and everything was just as good! Service was fast, efficient, and nothing was messed up or missing both times. All the food was hot and delicious and this is going to be our new favorite Chinese restaurant. Can’t wait to order more...
