Great Clips — Local services in Holmdel Township

I brought my 10 year old son here for the first time yesterday. There wasn't a long wait but the hairdresser also did a rush job on my son's hair. I left him with my aunt to pick up my other son from school. I was surprised when i picked them up that he had all red marks on the back of his neck from the razor where she trimmed the hair in a crooked line. The cuts are still on his neck this morning. It was not a neat haircut like he gets at the local barber. I paid $12 which is the same price as the barber...actually $1 more. I chose to try Great Clips because the wait at the barber is usually very very long. Also he asked for her to shave a line for a design on the side of his head and she put a line on both sides which did not match in height and his hair was too long for that line to look good...it looked like a mistake. I know she was rushing because I had watched her cut an older woman's short hair before my son and she was butchering the back of her neck too and hurried her off the chair to help the next person. I feel if you need to sacrifice quality to be quick it's not worth your reputation or the reputation of the salon. I didn't get the woman's name. I wish I had.

A long one here. I took my 14 yr old boy there a few months back to try out and had a pleasant experience with Mary. So we kept going there a few more times and Mary was excellent every single time. Today we were taken in by this older lady and I decided to go with her instead of waiting for Mary. I stood there as usual as my boy is a quiet type and I always stayed near by to make sure he got the right hair cut. Nonetheless I stay quiet. I do that at every salon and nobody ever had an issue. After a few mins in, she flipped out out of nowhere asking me to go sit down unprofessionally and rudely. I would have been fine and understanding if she would have asked me nicely. But she was so rude for no reason and on top of that, she threatened to stop cutting his hair. I just told her to stop and left the place. I have never encountered anything like that in my life. Her hands were very shaky also btw. And she looks miserable and doesn’t look professional like others there. With that being said, I will never go back there again and will warn anyone I know about this lady. Employee like that ruins the business and needs to be reported. Wish I remembered her name. She’s the oldest lady there (prob in her late 50’s) with glasses on, tired unprofessional looking and...

The people there were friendly. But omg I finally went to a different hair salon since the one I went to closed 😫. I asked for the same thing I always get. Keep in mind my hair was super long and good since I haven’t had it done in awhile. I expect it to be a lil different since you know it’s not the same person who usually does it. But omg my hair turned out so bad 😭. My hair was blow dried and I saw my hair in the mirror, I still gave it hope since my hair wasn’t done yet. And the person who cut it was kind but she kept telling me it looked good. Almost as if she was trying to convince me it was good. The price was good, rlly cheap, but was it rlly worth it…. NO I rather pay a lil more just for my hair to come out better. I was just not happy with my hair and personally I won’t be coming back. I just miss my old hairstylist and wish she never closed. My hair is so short and it feels like it’s not even layers it’s all just chop chop chop. Doesn’t even blend either. And I feel the middle super thick while the rest of the hair is light 😭, my old hairstylist did it with perfection 😅 my family were also a little disappointed especially after I straightened it 💀 it was just so much more noticeable how badly cut it was , once it was straightened 🙂‍↕️...
