A bare bones coffee place with good iced coffee. Been coming here regularly and recently switched from a large New Orleans with whole milk, to just a large straight black New Orleans (stomach issue). I ordered the drink and the cup was only filled partially, almost 2 inches from the top. When I asked the girl who made it why isn’t it filled to the top she said it’s because I didn’t ask for milk and that I would be getting extra coffee for free if they filled it to the same level that comes with milk. I said just charge me more and fill it up, and was told they don’t do that. Weird.
I didn’t push back as this is probably the policy of the owner. But honestly, this doesn’t sit well with me. How cheap can you be to not fill the cup to the top? It’s already $6 (not counting the gratuity I give)just charge me $7 and stop embarrassing yourself.
Update to response:
I appreciate the response and understand you want to achieve consistency. I’m still failing to understand how giving more coffee (while maintaining your coffee to water ratio) is an issue.
If someone orders a large black coffee it should be filled to the top of the cup. Milk is an optional add on, and if selected, they get less coffee. That’s literally how every coffee shop operates.
Her response was odd and made it seem like I was asking for extra...
Read moreI love Rook coffee and normally I go to the Manalapan branch which offers great service. However, the service at the Holmdel branch was terrible. I ordered two coffee drinks and asked for sugar on the side because often it comes too sweet if I have them add it for me. Since they didn't have sugar packets, they put the sugar in another cup. When I asked for a cup holder, the girl at the cashier refused to give it to me because "I only ordered two drinks." So, of course, I ended up having the coffee spill all over me because I couldn't carry all 3 cups and a few napkins (and I also believe lids were not secured properly). Furthermore, I asked for something to stir the sugar with, no stirrers or even a straw was available. The server was abrupt and not helpful at all. Definitely will not be...
