Racial discrimination!!!! I have never experienced this level of racial profiling and discrimination that took place this past Sunday at blueberry hill cafe. Our family has a yearly tradition to get breakfast at this location before heading to the pumpkin patch nearby. We are not from the area and all of us drive a minimum of one hour to continue this tradition that was tainted this past weekend. My family and I (approximately 16 people) arrived at this establishment around 10am and requested accommodation regardless of the wait time since we know they don’t take reservations. We always have a lengthy wait time which is totally understandable for the size of the group. That has never been an issue. The host stated they will not be able to accommodate our family by placing two tables together. Remind you we go every year and this has never been a problem. However, the point was to eat breakfast so we didn’t push back on it. Shortly after, a family the same size as us arrived and were seated prior to us and two tables were placed together to accommodate even though we were told that was not possible. And as I remind you they don’t take reservations so it is on a first come first serve basis so why where they seated first? And accommodated oppose to us? After speaking with the person in charge we received no explanation for what just happened other than I’m sorry. This is unacceptable and having our children witness racial profiling in this time under circumstances was very hard to see. It is sad that such a known establishment will condone this type of behavior from their staff. We will never go back to blueberry hill cafe. This restaurant has made such a negative impact on our family’s annual tradition. I will be submitting...
Read moreWe visited Blueberry Hill Breakfast Cafe on a Sunday morning (after church) and the restaurant was packed, and the food was incredible! Staff was extremely friendly, service was wonderful! Cindy was our server and April was the manager on duty, and everything we ordered was delicious! Food portions were huge! My mom and my daughter both loved everything they ordered! I ordered the biscuits and gravy (with two eggs on top sunny side up) and my mom (and daughter) ordered the “Blue Plate Special” which includes two eggs (we chose sunny side up) and a breakfast meat (we picked sausage links) and a half-order side (we picked crepes). My 4 year old daughter loved the eggs, sausage links and crepes. The food portions were large enough for my mom and daughter. I ordered a biscuits and gravy with eggs (sunny side up) and I was completely stuffed and struggled to finish it, but it was SO DELICIOUS that I couldn’t stop eating it and I am thankful for the large food portions because you won’t leave hungry! I felt full / comfortable as I was leaving and my mom and daughter loved how clean the restaurant was and how fast / friendly / incredible the staff were and the food was so delicious! We will definitely be back again, and this is turning into a personal favorite for our family for breakfast...
Read moreWorst breakfast ever. Had the Canadian scrambler. Eggs hard (knife and fork hard) and dry. Canadian bacon? Not so much. It was chopped ham sandwich meat. Spinach? Well, it was green but.. The hash browns should more aptly be named "mashed browns" because the potatoes had been boiled to a pulp. The toast was served cold and dry. Who serves toast without a bit of butter on it? And then there were pancakes. Cold, dry pancakes, and a waffle we wanted to try because it was supposed to be apple cinnamon. Having made apple cinnamon waffles before out of batter containing both apples and cinnamon, I expected the same. What we got was a stiff waffle smothered in a sort of applesauce affair. It was pretty awful. It should have dawned on me when I saw the blueberry pancakes were just pancakes with a handful of blueberries on top. We were a party of 4 - 2 kids and 2 adults. The bill for this fiasco was $60. My taste buds ache for the people of Homer Glen as this appeared to be their only choice for brunch. Next time we find ourselves stranded in the country we'll stop off at the gas station for snacks and take our appetites back to Chicago for...
