This place has amazing food for decent prices. I came by to get a coffee and do some work today. Found out they had food there, too, and that they had an avocado toast meal for about $11. You can't find that anywhere nowadays so I got that with a nitro.
Oh. My. Gosh. The meal was so big and fresh. When I tell you I almost asked for a to-go box... The slices of toast were so big and they made them savory with (maybe?) garam masala or some other Middle Eastern spices and some super fresh tasting fig jam on top with seeds and all.
I ate those two slices and was so full I had to wait about a half hour for them to digest before eating the large side salad portion of spring mix-type greens with strawberries, pepitas, and (I believe) a balsamic vinaigrette sauce.
Between that delicious meal and the nitro which was equally amazing, it was well worth the price tag.
The only real qualm I have with the place was the service. Both of the women who were behind the counter were super standoffish. Maybe if I were a regular, it would've been different? I dunno, I just got the feeling I wasn't "hipster" enough to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a lovely little place to grab a coffee. The barista was so friendly and info and PATIENT (lol) to my millions of questions. Very skilled. My latte was made beautifully and the coffee was exceptional. Housemade syrups and chai. They have been open for over 2 years. Their coffee is all medium roast, though their Haitian tends to be more on the medium-dark roast side. The cafe is located in the same building as Cahaba Cycles and it is quite the unique experience to drink your coffee in a bike shop, though I sat outside. Lovely area outside with brightly colored tables and a calm chill atmosphere. They roast the beans themselves in Lakeview. For espresso, they've got their Wavelength blend, which is made up of Ethiopian and Dominican coffee blends. I ordered the Hocus...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVerified today that the best cappuccino in town is at Domestique. That combination of the perfect level of bitterness with just the right creamy texture to balance it is exactly what I wanted. We were bummed when Panache in Southside closed and have tried a bunch of other coffee shops looking for that perfect cup. There are a ton of great coffee shops in BHM but none quite hit the spot till we found Domestique Dawn Patrol in Homewood, inside Cahaba Cycle. Service was great, and there's a nice outdoor patio along with some indoor seating. Very chill vibe and super friendly, helpful staff. Very good pastries too. We'll definitely be...
