the food was very good hands down. the service was pleasant and very attentive. the only issue i had was that the restaurant is 28-years-old and still lacks a point-of-sale system from when I was here 20 years ago. they use a 10-key calculator to print out the checks. I went with another couple recently and we requested separate checks. the way they subtracted everything on the 10-key calculator looked like scribble and nothing was itemized. it was very confusing and none of staff offered to help us when we expressed we couldn't read the receipt. it isn't and shouldn't be an issue in this day and age (year 2020) when asking for a digital receipt or separating/itemizing receipts. it may not be part of the infrastructure to install a point-of-sale system but allowing your guests to see what they're paying for is flat out fair. you don't give your guests a 10-key calculator print out of the receipt without explaining what they're paying for. i won't be returning to this restaurant because I feel that the owners are not thinking about the longevity of their footprint. In this day and age, younger people who are making more income like to enjoy fancy meals but are not ashamed to split the bill. it's a different generation and the owners don't understand the change in culture or technology. I want to go out with my friends to have dinner but won't be picking up a $600 tab just because the staff doesn't want to assist us with itemizing the bill due to a lack of a point-of-sales system. Very disappointed because this restaurant had a lot of potential to earn a solid...
Read moreFood-wise, my only criticism was 1 piece of shell in the crab 'Pasta and Cheese'. My much large issue was with the overall feel of the restaurant. The decor was painfully dated and the furniture was so worn that it looked dirty and poorly cared for. The staff was also a mess. The hostess couldnt be bothered to make eye contact, meanwhile the servers appeared so disheveled I wasnt sure if I needed to leave the left-overs for them. They cared little with looking clean, or at least keeping their shirts neatly tucked. Personally our server was happy, attentive, helpful and informative, but he appeared like his garage band just fired him and he was falling on some 'hard times' with his sloppy shirt that was misfitting. I thought this place was a high-end, low key, quaint spot to share memories with close friends and family. On the contrary, I found it had little privacy between tables and had an ambiance of a YardHouse with less beer and more pop/country music playing in the background. I can't stress enough though that I had no complaints of the food in our $40+ dishes, but the overall 'feel and appearance' made it less special for...
Read moreAmbiance of a dimsum restaurant including the bathrooms. Server was yelling and arguing with someone in the kitchen that has open doors and a window. Water was self-serve at a supposed "fine dining" price. Food was 6/10 at best, considering the small portion and its high price, it was not worth it at all. Also there's around 8-10 things total on the menu including apps and main dishes.
Honestly this place is a joke. I have had better service, food, and ambiance at a casual sushi restaurant; all of this for a dress code requirement is the biggest laugh of it all. I went on a Saturday night while there was 3 parties and after my experience I see why this place can't fill on a Saturday night.
Don't ruin a loved ones special day, go to one of the other popular fine dining restaurants to save yourself from a 150+ bill and disappointment from your loved ones.
The good reviews are likely decades old or people who have never experienced much better for the...
