UPDATE: Since my original review I’ve been here several times and it’s been generally good. I think their Chicken Katsu and Chicken Katsu Curry plates are very good. Their Beef Stew is one of the best I’ve had on island, with the bonus of it being one of the cheaper options on the menu. During my most recent visit I finally tried their Loco Moco. It definitely did not taste as good as Loco Mocos I’ve had elsewhere, even compared to L&L and Zippy’s. The beef and gravy seemed to have weird seasoning. Or maybe it was just old since my stomach felt weird after I ate it.

Original Review: Got take out from here and it was pretty fast. Good variety of local food on the menu and nice portion sizes for the price. We got the oxtail soup, adobo fried rice omelette, and chicken papaya soup. All were delicious. Knocked off a star since we originally wanted to get the omurice and ahi bowl, but they said they weren’t making it yet despite it being on the menu.

@Kimberly Crutcher congrats, you win this month’s racism award. For your information, pork guisantes is a Filipino dish…and Filipinos are Asian. So I’m not sure what your big issue with Asian cooks is about. Yes, Asahi is a Japanese word but one look at their website or menu will tell you that they serve local food here. And if you were expecting Japanese food, why the heck were you trying to order...

I used to think that the Asahi Grill on Ward was the best, but over time, things have changed. The food quality, service and dinning comfort is way better at Asahi Grill Keeaumoku. Plus, the parking situation is much a lot easier and safer.

This location offers a larger dinning area that is relaxing and as well as pleasant. You feel very welcomed there and despite it has been around for a while, is well maintained so it doesn't look rundown. It's very clean too. They have a host that pleasantly greets and seats you, so you don't feel like you interrupted a server to guide you.

Of course they offer the famous ox tail soup and it is nice that they offer 3 sizes. I usually go for the medium as it is a decent size. Now most people don't think of this, but I love to get their kimchi as a side dish. It is slightly sweet and goes well with the savory ox tail soup. I also get a side of mac salad.

Not in the mood for soup, well they have lots of local favorites to...

We came here for their Ox Tail soup and were not disappointed, it was delicious! The broth was clear and had a good flavor, the ox tail meat was tasty, not chewy but so tender and lightly salty and delicious.

I was tempted to get the Ox Tail ramen because I like ramen more than rice, but the ramen dish only has a few oxtail pieces in it (3) whereas the special Oxtail Soup has a lot more (6-7 pcs). I’m so glad I got the special as the oxtail meat is the highlight of this soup. This meat really tastes good. I also put in their optional ginger condiment and it really woke up another flavor side of the soup, tasted wonderful.

Overall I was not expecting anything more than some good cloudy soup but was surprised by this clean, fresh, tasty delicious soup that was beyond what I thought it would be. I don’t want to overhype it, as taste is personal, but we really enjoyed our soup here and will definitely come again as it...

The Hubby and I loved this place before COVID-19 and was happy to try and dine-in and get some of our favorites. It wasn't crowded at all when we went. There was only one other table being used. They had a limited menu which seems to be normal for most dine-in places nowadays. No biggie, they had their awesome lup cheong fried rice, YUMMY! The place was clean. Service was gracious and friendly as usual. Definitely recommend taking out or dining in. Clean. Good food. Great service.
