The Deck was a great experience. My nine friends and I all ate dinner there a few nights ago for one of my friends' birthday dinner. Being so close to Waikiki beach, it was very convenient to find and all we had to do was take a short bus ride to the entrance. Going up the elevator, the doors opened revealing the aesthetic scene we are about to eat in. There were lots of plants and greenery, beautiful Diamond Head and sunset view, and lots of helpful staff. We were seated and ordered, the service being great and attentive. We took our time taking photos and taking in the atmosphere, as we weren’t sure how many times we would be able to come back. I eventually ordered the Deck burger and it was great. The bun was toasted and the ingredients were combined nicely. It was super juicy and overall a great burger. Personally, I don’t love the greens that they put on the burger so I took them off, but other than that it was delicious. In addition, I shared a plate of chips and guacamole with one of my friends, and that was also very good. The only complaint is that there wasn’t nearly enough guacamole for the amount of chips that were on the plate (Also that it was $16). A few of the others in my party also ordered the burger and it shared similar good reviews. One of the members ordered the eggplant dish and it looked very good and he said it was pretty good tasting to match its look. At the end, it was very easy to split the bill three ways and we walked out with our stomachs full. My friends and I shared laughs and celebrated a great birthday with a great dinner. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal with the family or with friends.

The experience was so, so. Let me explain. We arrived during happy hour at 3:30pm to be denied with the option to return at 7pm. There was room for us yet, the staff assured we must return later do to capacity. We returned at 7pm by the staff request to discover tripple attendance. Why in the world were we denied? Made us feel like they just wanted to earn more revenue per person versus happy hour. We felt like we were bamboozled to obtain a rate hike. Two tacos, two 8 ounce drinks (4 ounce fluid, 4 ounce ice) for about $60. Was it worth it? Nope! Here's the truth, Del Taco has two fish tacos for $4 and they are just as tasty. Two tacos cost $18, they look pretty but lack value. The drinks were tasty but so is a canned beverage, another example over over priced service. Do these tacos compare to Del Taco, not really. It's not fair to place the food we obtained in the fast food category. However, when we arrived for happy hour, we were wrongfully denied to return with unjust premium; we felt torn. The service neglected us, we waited for 20 minutes to discover that we needed to scan a qr code to obtain the menu after we ordered two drinks. Those drinks cost $18 each which lacked an impression. Originally ordered Mai Tai which tasted like a margarita. After 10 minutes our waitress addressed the issue by returning the old drink for a traditional Mai Tai. Bottom line, we walked out feeling neglected with overpriced food that looked better than it tasted and a experience that lacked luster. Attention staff, take care of your customers and treat them fairly otherwise you risk reviews like this one which is honest and sincere. Don't turn away customers to return them when there was no reason for the denial in the first place. Sad, I had high hopes... 😢 Nice atmosphere, good music yet, bad service and bloated prices. For that reason, I rate The Deck as two stars. For a five star review, great service, value, and an amazing experience 👍. Management should take note.

I recently dined at The Deck in Honolulu and had quite an interesting experience. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm, and while we arrived on time, they apologized for being short staffed and seated us a bit later than expected. No big deal; these things happen. Once seated, our waitress took our drink orders. We went for Nice Melons, Buzzin, and Not Your Average Waikiki Mai Tai. Unfortunately, I have to give a 0 out of 5 for the drinks; they were disgusting. For food, we ordered fish tacos (2pcs), fried calamari, and yellowtail carpaccio. The tacos and carpaccio were good, but the calamari was a joke – only 4 rings? Seriously? Hoping for a better experience, we ordered 3 Bloody Marys. They turned out to be the worst Bloody Marys I’ve ever had in my life. When the check came, it was $155. Now, let’s rate the service: we were the only table without water, the waitress never checked if we needed anything, and we waited over 10 minutes for straws for the Bloody Marys. We ended up getting up and grabbing them from the bar ourselves. Service: 0 out of 5. Drinks: 0 out of 5. The place looks nice and offers a good view of the mountain, but we could enjoy that view without spending $155. If I could leave a 0 rating, I definitely would, but since the minimum is 1, that’s what I’ll give them. I do not recommend The Deck to anyone. There are many other places where you can enjoy a good view and good drinks. Also, it’s worth noting that they offer discounts for 5-star reviews, so take their overall rating with a grain of salt.

EDIT (yes, it got worse!): The waitress, Elise, saw our review and stomped over to our table DEMANDING THAT I TAKE THE REVIEW DOWN. She admitted that she did not remake the drink, blamed the bartender, and proceeded to raise her voice at me when I refused to take the review down. I have never, ever, seen such incredible lack of decorum from a waiter or waitress. Admittedly, this all is less a reflection on the restaurant and more just a young person having a full-on breakdown when being called out for lying. We talked to the manager after Elyse had yet another outburst after when she was gathering dishes (she initiated a staring contest with our entire party). Apparently we hadn't been through enough at this point. On the bright side, the manager was incredibly kind and cordial. ---- ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW (originally 2 stars) ---- One drink was messed up (they forgot to add any sweetener to a daiquiri). Not a big deal with a party of nine on a Tuesday night, until… The waitress then, no joke, tried to offer me a sugar packet when I told them to remake the drink. Was honestly baffled. I told them to remake the drink… the waitress then walked away, put in a sugar packet and mixed it, put a flower on it, and brought the same 2/3 full drink back with a straight face. Food itself was very mediocre. 2/5 across the board. Nothing terrible, but below the standard of any decent restaurant. Photo of the sad dacquire in question. Come on. Don’t just lie to a customers face and not try to hide it.
