I was born by a river, oh man, in this little old tent, oh Just like this river, I've been running ever since It's been a long, long time coming But I know, but I know, a change is gotta come Ooo yes it is Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my It's been too hard living, oh my And I'm afraid to die I don't know what's up there Beyond the clouds It's been a long, long time coming But I know, but I know a change is gotta come Oh yes it is Oh my, oh my, oh my There's a time I would go to my brother, oh my I asked my brother, "Will you help me please?", oh my oh my He turned me down and then I ask my dear mother, oh I said "Mother!" I said "Mother! I'm down on my knees" It's been a time that I thought Lord this couldn't last for very long, oh now But somehow I thought I was still able to try to carry on It's been a long, long time coming But I know a change is gonna come Oh, yes it is Just like I said, I went to my little bitty brother, oh my little brother now I asked my brother "Brother help me please?", oh now He turned me down and then I go to my little mother, my dear mother, oh my I said "Mother!" I said "Mother! I'm down on my knees" But there was a time that I thought Lord this couldn't last for very long, oh my Somehow I thought I was still able to try to carry on It's been a long, long time coming But I know, but I know a change is gotta come, ooo It's been so long, it's been so long, a little too long A change has gotta come So tired, so tired of standing by myself And standing up alone A change has gotta come You know and I know, and you know that I know I know that you know, honey That a change is gonna come oh yeah oh, I gotta

WANT TO VISIT A NEARBY "HIDDEN" MAGNIFICENT BANYAN GROVE IN PLAIN SIGHT? THEN, PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS AMAZING PARK, ADJACENT TO KAPI'OLANI "THE ARCH OF HEAVEN" PARK. Sans Souci State Recreational Park is adjacent to Sans Souci Beach and sits across the street from Kapi'olani Regional Park.. There are impressive Banyan trees on its premises. Their massive outstretched branches reach across portions of the park and display their AMAZING QUALITIES to put down their roots from it's branches. As these roots grown down toward and into the ground the Banyans spread their majestic reach. Here, there are picnic tables, a spacious lawn on which to play volleyball or soccer. Others put up tents for their picnic.lunch or dinners. There is ample room for everyone.

Rode a biki from Waikiki on Kalakaua and discovered this park. It has a great little boardwalk by the beach for a nice stroll or bike ride. Beautiful sunsets, great ocean views, and a cute little cafe with live music in the evenings makes such a wonderful way to end the day. It's really nice here, a lot more quiet. Definitely a nice place to get away from the busyness of Waikiki. The snorkeling seems pretty awesome, too -- lots of big fishes near the shore (since there is a lot more coral close to the shore here...so might be good to bring foot coverings or flippers if you snorkel here). I highly recommend this park!

Right now, 08/23, I can only award 3 stars, the main reason being is access limitation. The beach, also known as Kaimana, is, however, still sandy and magnificent. A favorite of locals it is about 100 meters wide and 50 deep. It. is bounded by concrete walls, some shade palms and benches, a hotel and restaurant and a decaying World War I monument. The shallow water has welcome sand underfoot and coral banks to explore a short swim away. Toilets are a challenge.

The more adventurous often swim to a flag a hundred fifty meters out. The beach is a favorite launch for canoes , kayaks and standup boards. Smooth water shows clear bottom views, but rough water can be cloudy, and be advised, tidal action can produce a current. The new moon seems to regularly invite jellies - watch for flag warnings. Finally, a rare treat- monk seal moms occasionally rest at Kaimana. They are protective and protected - stay far away.

Perhaps some day the powers that be will finish their repairs and Kaimana will receive the Five Stars it deserves. Aloha.

What you know! Repairs completed! Park has a new sidewalk, a new shower and fountain, even a new effort at growing grass. But the adjacent deteriorated WW l memorial is a long standing island disgrace. Shame! Renovate it or get rid of it, and provide a worthy restroom/bath house and Kaimana will get its 5th star! Come on Mr. Mayor, you can do...
