I don't go to Genki for atmosphere so 4/5 ain't bad. I went, in early April 2024, to the Kapahulu location, and the food came out lightning fast but it was sloppy and many of the rice portions were lopsided/missing, as if no care at all was taken, but honestly, I don't eat all the rice. My point is that if care was not taken there, is anything else neglected or disregarded? YUUUUUP
Backtrack: I was escorted to my seat and dumped like someone takes out the trash. I was given water, wasabi and the QR code immediately - I'll acknowledge that. The server wasn't sure if I could order a particular item via my phone. Great. But after my initial communication, there was NOTHING else. I was omo. After the server left, I waited for about 7 or 8 minutes and no one came by...ok, that's what the QR is code for. I was a server at a few restaurants. I understand and respect that every restaurant is different. And I'm always polite bc I know how entitled customers can be. So I got up to ask if I could order an item that was on one of their boards. They said it was sold out. Lol. Well, NOTHING was on their sold out board. Throw the board away, if you're going to depend on the online system! But I had to get up after waiting that long. Not good.
HALF AN HOUR later, my water was still empty, and still, nobody had come by since I was seated. I ate, dealt with it, paid and left. Ward location is way better, a thousand times better.
It's rough working at a restaurant in any capacity. But from the front people (at Kapahulu) to the "chefs" that were taking their breaks outside, you just knew that none of them wanted to earn their paycheck or their tip. They just didn't want to be there, and you know what, it shows in their food. It isn't a lie when they talk about making food with love and care. I was not expecting Ruth's Chris service. But anything more than what I got would have been better. Otherwise, how do you justify servers? Make everything self serve or take out. Maybe it was bc I was a party of one. All the attention was on the group parties... All three parties of four. OMG, don't work too hard. Sad. Just sad. I didn't mention a thing. You can't fix that and grumbling doesn't help... But warning others can prevent an experience like mine. Genki is great; go to...
Read moreGenki is usually a great place to go especially when you are hungry and want fast and tasty food. Well this time it didnt happened that way. They Screwed up my order 2x. Didn't want to send it back 🤔 again. Ended up not finishing the items cause it wasnt the way we wanted the item. We didnt get some of our food we ordered not sure why🤨. Finally the person who took our 1st incorrect item back came and told us oh it's wrong again (that's 10 mins after we got it). I told him it okay. I did inform him about the missing food and we are ready for our checks. OMG it took 10 mins for my check. NO sorry or let me take that off our check they made my FOOD WRONG and still charged me. The manager was hiding in can't believe it they didn't even say anything. Yes I did a review on them and asked for the box NO box.. I know it wont ever get to the manager. I usually get great service not this time. All they need to do was own up to ths...
Read moreCame to grab some food with my wife and son, n also brought my and sister. My son loves trains, so we kindly asked if we could be seated on the left side where the cart that brings out the food is a train. The girl in front took a big sigh and said “I guess I’ll go clean the table for you guys”. While cleaning the table she was throwing all the dirty dishes into the dirty dish tray and being all loud and stuff. Horrible service and Managment. There was the busboy who was actually very respectful and polite and kept asking us if we needed anything else. I’m not saying I want a 5 start treatment but if you don’t want to work here then just quit, don’t take it out on the customers. Food is good, not complain there. Just the management has to do a lot better and that one specific worker, has to have an attitude check. I don’t remember her name but it was a lil blonde...
