××× UPDATE I downgraded my 3 stars to 1 star when I came in today to find out that they close the kitchen for 2 hours in the middle of the day without advertising it anywhere. So not only did I get terrible service my first visit but got leave hungry my second visit. Save yourself $25 and go to chronic tacos across the street ×××The food was really quite delicious, but the service was a total bust. I enter as a solo diner for lunch and ask if there is bar seating available. The gentleman behind the bar (name starts with a "A") just says, "Yeah or a table." I explain I'm alone and as someone who has served for years, I know that taking up a table as a 1 top isn't choice, and I wanted to have a drink or two so I sat at the bar. Well "A" didnt want to serve me. So a very nice server came by and got my order, but I never saw the kid after that. So I also never got to order a second drink, more food, or dessert. The bartender didnt even clear my dishes until I stacked them all up in an obvious tower. I never got a refil on water despite an empty cocktail and mostly empty water glass. This could be chalked up to the fact that the bartender was just supposed to be prepping for the night, and not yet serving guests, except a guy walked in a few minutes after me and sat at the bar and "A" was happy to serve him. The food really was lovely, I had the caprese, I personally like balsamic on mine, but the mango/basil combo was interesting and pretty tastey. The Sopa de Ajo was pretty good, but id at a touch more salt (not provided at bar seating) because when I dipped my garlic parmesan bread in it, magic. I hope that they can get these service issues ironed out, because I live close amd assuming I don't get abandoned at the bar with an indifferent bartender, Id like to make it a regular stop. Oh and I would recommend diversifying your cocktail menu a bit I dont like rum so my only real choice was the thyme limoncello cooler, which was pretty lovely with the strong...
Read moreWith all that we are facing as a country and society right now, people need the ability to step out of their normal life sometime for just a minute of fun, frivolity, good food, and high living. My husband and I were enjoying a night of food, camaraderie, and good conversation at Rigo Hawaii until the manager had to inform us our car was in an accident while valeted on their property. We go out to take care of the situation. We file the police report. We talk to the valet who is visibly shaken. He was standing near where the other driver backed into our car and could have been hit himself. We watch the police take the other driver off in handcuffs.
I am on the phone with insurance. We are now facing the total loss of our only car on island. We live 20 minutes from this restaurant. And while all of this is going on what is the most absolutely galling and disturbing behavior to me is that the manager runs out to the parking lot with the folio for the bill basically chasing us like we were trying to skip out of paying, not that we were out there dealing with the absolute destruction of our only means of transportation. No human decency. No thought to how he chose actions to make our day worse, not better. I really am utterly surprised. I'm not saying he should have comped our meal, but there should have been some common courtesy for the situation at hand some emotional intelligence in how you approach people who are going through what we were going through at YOUR establishment. I don't care about your little red sign saying you're not responsible. Nobody's holding you responsible. I'm really asking for you to behave in a humane and thoughtful way. Well my actions will speak louder than my words. I will never patronize this establishment again and I will recommend that no one else does either. Do better management, little...
Read moreRigo has been a go-to spot for me during my time on Oahu. After several months of craving quality pizza, I was thrilled to discover Rigo and indulge in their delicious offerings. The first two visits left me satisfied and reminiscent of the times when I had access to exceptional pizza on a regular basis.
However, during my third visit, I experienced a shift in my perception. I realized that Rigo's pizza, while good within the context of Oahu's pizza scene, may not meet the standards I had developed from my previous pizza experiences. That being said, if you're an avid pizza lover who enjoys exploring pizza options wherever you go, Rigo is worth a try.
In addition to their pizza, Rigo also offers a variety of tasty salads. The restaurant boasts a pleasant atmosphere, and the service is top-notch. I appreciated the use of high-quality Parmesan cheese in their dishes. While Rigo stands out among the pizza places on Oahu, it's important to note that there are other establishments that offer even better pizza.
Rigo specializes in Spanish-style pizza, which provides an interesting twist to the traditional pizza experience. However, it's important to approach Rigo with realistic expectations. The restaurant is situated in a mid-range area, neither the greatest nor the worst.
To those who are currently seeking a satisfying pizza experience on Oahu, I recommend giving Rigo a try. While it may not be the absolute best, it consistently delivers a solid meal. I would rate it as a solid mid-range option, deserving of a Mid.5 rating.
Ultimately, whether or not you resonate with my perspective on Rigo will depend on your personal taste and preferences. Regardless, I hope you enjoy your meal at Rigo and savor the unique Spanish-style pizza they...
