I was a regular patron of this poke place while I lived in kapolei from 2013 to 2021. I would come here AT LEAST once a week, sometimes driving into town just for this, stand in the long lines to enjoy the best poke on the island. I told Every single person coming here to visit or just friends looking for a good place to eat about this place. The fish quality was unmatched. Every piece was perfect! Never a bad/chewy piece. Unfortunately, a lot has changed and it really pains me to write this as they were my favorite. The flavors are always on point here, even now - my go-tos are wasabi ahi and miso ahi. The fish quality is not as high anymore. My last bowl had 4 chewy/tendony pieces which I've never had in any bowl in my probably 100+ visits prior. It seemed they any have been a few pieces less also than normally. They used to give you an included drink with the price of a poke bowl. Pretty much since covid, the prices for a regular bowl (now their only size), with tax is over $16. You can't escape increased prices on oahu... so, I don't mind the price going up if it's such good quality like before. But to have a price increase, get less and a decrease in quality - that is the kicker. When i came on my last visit it was around noon. There was no line. This is super abnormal. I've never not waited in a long line here. I would happily wait previously sometime 30-45 mins. For there being no line at lunch time makes me think people have stopped coming here for the reasons I mentioned which does make me sad. Other poke places (included foodland/foodland farms) now have better poke which...
Read moreSummary: exceptionally fresh ahi, prices are average, many sides to choose from. One of the best poke in Honolulu.
Food: Fresh poke which is well-marinated (there is lots of sauce so you can taste the flavour well). There is a small selection of choices which is good if you have decision-paralysis as a person. The Spicy Tuna Poke is the way to go - it was the most delicious of all the spicy poke's I have had. The shoyu was great too. I have been here three times in the past too, and the quality is consistent. For 75c extra each, you can add furikake and tempura flakes - why not just include this free? Good serving of rice and poke for the price.
Prices: In comparison to other poke in Waikiki, it was average priced. I was not shocked about the price vs the serving. There are sides available to purchase alongside your meal such as ginger, edamame and other popular dishes. If you include the prices of these, then you meal becomes pricey. I opted not to purchase a side. If you buy a combo meal, the drink is 'free'.
Location: Close to Waikiki and worth taking an Uber/driving there. Limited parking spaces available but you can always park on the streets and walk to the shop. There is no indoor seating, only limited outdoor seating. Small shop so you can expect to wait in a line which extends outside of the shop too.
CONs: There is only outdoor seating available for about 8-10 customers. Small shop and there can be very long lines (but the wait is worth it, and the wait is...
Read moreThe staff are awesome. They are welcoming, friendly, and make great food. But the owner is awful. She was the worst experience of our family trip to Oahu. The food is good, but too hyped up. You can get good Pokes in the island for the same price. The owner was working the register when we visited here and she decided to pick up a call before checking out the customers in front of us. She kept on talking on her phone for 3-4 minutes, which felt like 10 minutes waiting in line just to check out, and did not let anyone else to work the register instead of her. She decided to let the customers wait while she talks about in-store view with Google's sales rep (yes her call was long enough to give customers in line a good guess of her conversation). When she finishes her call, she said nothing but the price of their food to the customers in front of me, no apologies for the wait of course. She didn't even look at the customer and started talking to a guy of the staff next to her about how she dose not want to pay for the in-store view.(The guy looked confused from her behavior and gave us an glance with an apologetic look) The food was good. But it's not worth...
