Aloha everyone! Been wanting to review this for awhile now but haven’t been well. Feel a little well enough to finally do it and am excited to share my experience. L&L has always been a family favorite with every type of plate lunch and other offerings u can think of and we love so many of them. Today though i want to talk about the Vegan plant- based Musubi. I absolutely LOVE it. I could eat it everyday and a friend of mine could too. In fact, she turned me on to it and I’ve been hooked ever since. Now although it looks like a SPAM Musubi it is in no way close to it in taste. Its for one thing, drier and not as salty. Lightly coated with a teriyaki glaze. I like to personally add a little more of my own teri sauce because i like it drenched and a few dashes of togarashi but honestly its fine as is too. The “Omni Pork luncheon meat” is produced by Omni Foods and some of the ingredients include but are not limited to: potato starch, non GMO soy, wheat gluten and beet juice. I know so far it doesn’t sound tasty at all and if i had read the ingredients before I actually tried it, I probably wouldn’t have tried it either but hey, doesn’t hurt to try. You definitely won’t die. 😁 But to be fair, I am not a huge SPAM lover. I will eat it only if it is sliced thin and drenched in teriyaki sauce and i will eat it that way maybe twice a year. I know most of you are probably gasping in horror but YES, I’m local born and raised and YES, I’m supposed to automatically love SPAM since i was born, raised and living in Hawaii, but, I’m Japanese, Okinawan and a dash of Korean and I’m allergic to seafood. Especially shellfish (your probably gasping again aren’t you?) so i really have no explanation for you. Im just me and i love the plant based vegan musubi at L&L. 😍 It is Made to order, so u might want to call ahead and unfortunately extremely limited in where they are sold. I personally know of the Airport L&L and Waimanalo Location but please call first in case things have changed since this review. Mahalo for reading and as always...
Read moreI like L&L because there are a lot of choices on the menu. The problem with the place is there are too many choices on the menu. I sometimes stand and stare at the menu for a long time trying to decide what I want to eat. Lol. There are plate lunches, Chinese food, saimin, etc. All you can drink soda or juice. Eat there or take out. Hamburgers, seafood, etc. The food comes out fast depending though on what you order. The dining room is usually clean and there is a large screen TV to watch a movie or whatever is on. You can also eat outside but it's near the parking lot. The food is decent, not fine dining but it will taste good and fill you up. There is a lot of parking though there are times when the lot fills up. I go here often as the price is very reasonable so I can eat different kinds of things without paying an...
Read moreGreat location, perfect for picking up food before taking your flight.
Clean atmosphere. Service was warm and friendly. Very welcoming and was greeted as I walked in.
The menu consists of a variety of Island favorites and great combination plates. I opted for the Loco Moco Breakfast. The burger patty was good, moist, grilled, and seasoned well. The gravy was light but could use more beefy flavor. The over-easy eggs were perfect. The gravy, burger, over easy eggs over rice are delicious. The Macaroni Salad was tasty and freshly made. Generous portion, the regular combo could easily feed two people. For the price, it's worth it.
The one con about this place is the parking. It is a paid parking lot even...
