Umaizushi — Restaurant in Honolulu

Easily the worst service situation I've encountered in 30 years of eating out.

I initially ordered the sashimi lunch special ($20), but the waitress (Lou Anne) suggested I instead have the mixed sashimi, because it came with more fish.

When I received the check, I saw that I was charged $78 (!) for the mixed sashimi. I balked at this because she'd suggested this as a reasonable alternative to the lunch special.

I felt severely taken advantage of. The waitress should clearly have mentioned the price before suggesting something 4x more expensive.

The quality of the sushi definitely didn't justify the price — it was equivalent to what I'd expect from a grocery store...

So, on the way back to mainland, we stopped by this place. We didn't expect the sushi to be fresh and delicious. We only stopped by since we have a lot of time before our departure. The server is very friendly and doesn't mind at all that we are staying for a bit to wait for our departure time. We ordered the sushi and pleasantly surprised of the quality of the sushi. We then ordered more sushi to go for our lunch in the plane. Trust...

The udon sure not testy at all. Cheap terrible noodles, when I ask from the waitress for more soup stuck because the noodles are not testy, she said it will be in extra charge, didn’t ask me if I want to change the dish to something else, she didn’t give me more ginger as I asked and basically act like if she making me a favor! sushi was ok with warm rice. Won’t come back and I’m local who fly a lot...
