Great place if you want something quick but filling and local, and few things are as synonymous with Hawaiian cuisine than spam! This place is completely take out, but it is one of the few places in Waikiki that won't bankrupt you while satisfying a grumbling stomach. I will admit that I was little shocked at the smaller size of the musubi compared to what places on the U.S. mainland serve as musubi, but there is something about the musubi that makes it taste...fresher, which is a weird thing to say about something made with spam. The rice tastes like it just came out of the rice cooker, and the spam tastes like it was just fried on the stove. I love the variety as well, from bacon and egg musubi to shrimp musubi! There are also rolls there...my kids loved the spicy shrimp roll! The onigiri was all right, but the rolls and musubi stole the show! If you're staying in a hotel in Waikiki, it's an easy walk from most of them. Definitely worth repeat visits just to try the different...
Read moreDefinitely the best Musubi in Wiakiki. The staff is very friendly and happy to answer questions. It is strictly take-out but there are ample benches all around in the plaza out front.
If you don’t know, Musubi is a fancy name for “Spam Sushi.” It is a beloved Hawaiian snack of grilled Spam and rice wrapped in nori (seaweed). The Musubi is the size of a spam slice, so it is NOT like normal sushi.
We had three varieties; the Kimchi Musubi (shown in pictures) Black Pepper Musubi, and Shrimp Tempura & Avocado (also shown). The Musubi is pre-wrapped, though made with love daily. Their rice is incredibly flavorful unlike other Musubi we have tried. All three flavors were exceptional and the Nori was mild with no abrupt aftertaste.
Although Musubi is available at EVERY ABC Store, it pales in comparison in every facet. I would recommend walking the short distance off Kalakaua Avenue to find this tiny gem. We gladly snacked here multiple times during our...
Read moreThis is masubi heaven! So many variants of the traditional musubi. Not all musubis are the same. Quality rice, not regular rice, is used in every musubi. I wanted to try all of them but there's only so much musubi I can eat in a day. I have never eaten so many musubis in my life until this tripl. This is the only time I got spammed hard in my life! LOL. If you are a musubi fan, definitely drop by this musubi cafe place. They also sell drinks. You can get a 5% discount if you're a Wyndham timeshare owner. Five percent is not a lot, but it's still a little savings going back to your pocket. It is located in a nice shopping strip on Lewers Street, and it's just a few steps away from...
