We recently had an extended stay at The Regency and had a wonderful time there. Although we arrived quite late at night, we were warmly greeted as we got out of our taxi and were helped with bringing our luggage into the lobby. Checking in was quick and simple.||We rented a 1-bedroom unit. The units are rather dated and on the smaller side but as there was only two of us, it was adequate and the rooms were clean.||The unit consisted of a kitchenette with a full-sized refrigerator, a 4-burner cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle and other sundry items. (Having a longer stay, it would have been nice to have a stove). There was also a kitchen table with four chairs. The bathroom had a large shower and toiletries were provided - soap, shampoo, etc. A comfortable queen-sized bed was in the bedroom together with plenty of storage. There was a sofa bed in the living room plus an additional chair. Another table with four chairs could be found on the lanai - a good place to eat lunch and watch the activity below or even to watch the Friday night fireworks display.||Because we were there for a longer period, we had weekly housekeeping services. For shorter stays, no one enters the unit, however, if additional items are needed (sheets, towels, soap, etc.) or garbage needs to be removed, it just takes a simple call to the front desk. There is onsite paid laundry on Floors 2 & 7.||The current cover photo for the condo showing a big swimming pool is deceptive as there is no pool on site. The pool shown is at the Outrigger Reef, a block away which can be used by anyone staying at the Regency. We didn’t use the pool but it looks lovely and is only a short walk away. It is no more than a 5-minute walk to the beach which is accessible by a pathway beside the Reef.||The hotel is located near numerous restaurants, coffee shops and other shopping. The main Waikiki area is a short walk away. Even the far end where the Zoo and Kapi’olani Regional Park are located is only some 15 minutes and walking there is a great opportunity to watch the surfers and the beach volleyball players.||Without a doubt, the number one highlight of our stay has to be the wonderful service we received from everyone from the housekeeping ladies to the maintenance fellow. The most exceptional service, however, was from all of the front desk staff. Any enquiry or issue we had was dealt with immediately in the most friendly and efficient manner. I don’t think we’ve had better service from any hotel staff anywhere at any time. Just one of many examples - they went out of their way to make sure we could have a late checkout due to our late night flight home. Kudos to everyone. ||Would I stay there again? In...

Read moreStarting from the front desk check in I received a bad impression. The lady at the front desk Marjury couldn't be bothered to say hello, hi, aloha, ill be right with you, nothing. We just stood there at the counter wondering if the person who was ignoring us actually worked there. We got our room and took our stuff upstairs the bell boy was helpful. Our room at first glance looked good mainly cause of the great view of the ocean. Once done looking outside and settling in we saw all the dirty surfaces. Layers of dust on the furniture, dirty handprints on cabinets, dirt rings from dishes in the sink, someones earing backs on top of the dusty headboard that higlighted the filth in the room. I pulled back the pillow to find a half drank water bottle underneath. Instantly disgusted by this point and hadn't even made it to the bathroom. We called the front desk and they sent someone but they quickly dismissed us took the bottle and said that house keeping was gone for the day. We asked for credit off the cleaning fees for the room and was told to take it up with the front desk. Seriously disappointed. Update: We stayed the night as there were no more rooms to change to. The walls are very very thin. Heard the stairwell door and elevators in our room all night long. Shower never got beyond luke warm and I underestimated the dirty floor, seen cleaner at truck stops. We ended up calling and changing to the Embassy Suites next door. When clearing out of the room looked under the bed and found someones trucker hat and a pair of used boxers. The manager was very apologetic and comped our stay. He was convinced it was just oversight because they just a large group of kids check out day before overwhelming the cleaning staff. I explained the conditions were more indicative of long term neglect. Layers of dust and caked on scum in the shower dont happen overnight. Glad the management made it right and wish them luck fixing their cleaning staff. To nice of a view and somewhat recent reno to neglect the...
