Color Queen Salon — Local services in Honolulu

Allison is amazing; she is the Color Queen (Salon). I moved to Oahu in August of 2020 and hadn’t had my hair done since February 2020. I had a lot of regrowth, with gray and dark roots, and blonde highlights at the ends. I definitely had quarantine hair. I knew I needed a serious update. I looked around for a master colorist in Oahu who could beautify me. I googled Oahu Colorist, and Color Queen Salon was one of the first suggestions with 123 five star reviews. Since 123 is my number (Allison knows about numbers) I had a feeling she was the one. Then I checked out her website and liked her Facebook page and every day I was in awe of the beautiful photos she took of her clients, both before and after their transformation with the Queen. She told me she had about a 2 month wait, so I shopped around, but couldn’t find anyone responsive who did even near the same quality of work. I decided I had waited more than a year, what was another two months to get to see the Queen and be transformed. I told Allison I was going to wait for her because she was worth it and I was so excited. Before I knew it, Allison had a cancellation, the universe smiled and she worked me in within a week!

I had an amazing time getting to know Allison in her beautiful salon. Never have I felt more focused on or “seen” by a beauty professional. Allison made the entire experience not just comfortable but special. I gave her free range to “fix” my hair and help me be the best me. (I have recently lost 47 pounds and wanted my hair to help me reflect the beauty I was now feeling).

I have naturally curly hair and am 48 years old. Never in the decades of getting my hair done, has anyone made me feel and look the way Allison did. I never knew I could look like this. I have been smiling since I left.

My husband and two sons both absolutely love my hair, and so do I.

I've had the most wonderful experience at Color Queen Salon, the best in town! The owner Alison, is truly an image professional. I came in with a hair do I had for over 30 years and wasn't sure what I wanted but I knew it was time for a brand new look. She asked me questions, looked at my hair and features and recommended a manageable yet stunning look that truly I would have never picked myself. Now I feel like a new woman! Coming up with the style, being treated to some wine and fulfilling conversation, was wonderful way to spend my few hours with her. The salon is in a convenient location and gives a tranquil, relaxing vibe. The cherry on the top (besides my great new look) was her sweet chihuahua Lulu, sitting on my lap and just chillen with me through the whole process. The aromatherapy scalp massage was by far, amazingly relaxing! The photo shoot afterwards was so good fun! I recommend Ali to anyone and especially our local ladies, she really knows native hair and will make you look and feel like the goddess you are. For all the services she provided, she is the best deal by far. She even gave me tips on how to style my hair when I go home because I am traditionally a wash and wear girl. She even took the time to show me some hair tools on Amazon. It was such a great experience that I made sure to book myself until the end of 2025. After leaving her salon I felt confident that I can carry my new look forward, even my husband was speechless when he saw me. Mahalo nui loa Ali...

I followed directions and text 2 photos of my hair, front and back and waited for a response. A week later I still had no response and after reading that she responds within 48 hours I decided to text the photos again. She did respond within 48 hours, asked me to read her Rules on first appointments, and said she would be ready to book me after. I had already read the rules on first appointments so I text her back and said I was ready to book when she was. She said she was with a client and would get back to me. 24 hours later I still hadn’t heard back so I text her again. I was very cordial, patient, and understanding up until this point. I waited an hour and a half and still no response again so I text that I no longer need an appointment because if it’s this difficult to just get a hold of her to book an appointment then it isn’t worth it. That to me is very very poor customer service. She responded by saying she went to respond and saw that she hadn’t sent the message with the available appointments and wished me luck. At no time did she actually try to recoup my business and/or send me her availability if I wanted to reconsider. Again, in my opinion that’s very unprofessional and very poor customer service. I am very very disappointed with this service bc service starts from the second I call. She may be very good at her job, but I like to give my money to those that want to earn my...
