How did I not get the MEMO? This Local Girl only found this place out recently and it's "Thee Spot" in the area! Don't let the name fool you!
This is my second time ordering the Ginger Chicken Plate within the past week. Comes with 2 scoops rice and a scoop of mac salad but we subbed out the mac for extra rice, "YES!" & choke ginger, "Yes you heard me!". Let me tell you, they are very generous. I absolutely love the balance of ginger to chicken ratio in every bite! And let's not forget the Rice! The portion is satisfyingly huge. And the 'Regular' is worth the amount you're paying for. Most importantly the flavor is Onolicious!
Another go to we couldn't resist at a second round within the same week is the Hamburger Steak Plate with teri sauce! It also comes with a great portion of 2 scoops rice and 1 scoop mac with 3 delicious homemade hamburger patties with a generous amount of teri sauce that has kikoman taste which is bomb. Our son ate half the plate faster than usual, and that tells us how good it really is!
Anytime we're near the Salt Lake area, trust me you'll find us back here again! The price is good and the...
Read moreOkay... Little rundown joint, kind of sketch looking. Wanted BBQ and Google reviews said the place was good. This is NOT a Texas BBQ kind of joint. This has to be an island thing with Asian flare / influences. Ordered Baby Back Ribs plate and there was no indication these things had ever been on / near a BBQ. More likely steamed or slow cooker. And they had a brown gravy like sauce over them - NOT a traditional ketchup/ vinegar based BBQ sauce. Served with rice and macaroni salad. Couldn't eat in the place so ate in our car.
So? Good or what? Verdict - not bad... I wasn't thinking I would like them, but they weren't bad. Gravy / sauce had a good taste and meat fell of the bone and was tasty. Not my favorite BBQ experience, but not terrible either. Got a lot of food for the money. Wife had a cheese burger - wasn't too impressed. Time to get meal was slow and her food sat waiting for mine too come up.
Out the door with two medium pops was $30. Probably wouldn't go back on purpose, but if I were in the area might try it again. I like dives and I like...
Read moreI had plans to vacation in Oahu and so a local friend of mine had given me a list of places she likes to eat at, including Stadium Giant Malts & BBQ. She mentioned that this place made some of the best wings. My husband and son are BIG TIME wing lovers, so we had to go. She was definitely right. The wings were so good. Even my daughter and I who are NOT big time wing lovers couldn't have enough. The seasoning was perfect! We also ordered the chicken katsu and mixed meat plates, which were ALL very delicious. The mac salad was very simple, which we personally appreciated. I assumed the chocolate malt was going to taste like a Wendy's frosty, but it was so much better. Tasted like a blended fudgesicle. So much more refreshing... especially in the Hawaiian heat. The only downside is that there was no seating inside due to covid, but found some tables in front of the nearby Jamba Juice.
If you have plans to go to the Aloha Stadium, check it out! ...
