I recently visited Amigo’s Mexican Grill with a large group for a special event, and while there were some highlights to our experience, it left me with mixed feelings overall.
First, I want to commend the friendly and welcoming staff—they were attentive despite how packed the restaurant was. The servers handled our group with professionalism and warmth, which made a big difference considering how busy the place was during our visit. The atmosphere was lively and traditional, with colorful décor and upbeat music that captured the spirit of a classic Mexican eatery.
However, the wait for our food was noticeably long. With such a large crowd that day, I completely understand the delay, but it did stretch our patience a bit. Unfortunately, when the food did arrive, I found it bland and lacking flavor—not at all what I was hoping for, especially as someone who truly enjoys Mexican cuisine and frequently dines at various Mexican spots around town. Without adding hot sauce, the dishes had little to no seasoning, which was disappointing.
That said, dining experiences can vary, and in fairness, my daughter absolutely loved her meal and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. So while it didn’t hit the mark for me, it clearly pleased others in our party.
In the end, if it weren’t for the event we were attending, I probably wouldn’t have chosen Amigo’s. And based on this experience, I don’t see myself returning. Still, I always believe everyone’s palate is different, so I’d say give it a try and form your own opinion—you might just have a better...
Read moreThe service is always great and the food is always on point. I steer away from any American/Mexican choices at any similar restaurant. I go for the traditional/authentic choices if the restaurant offers them. I've been to the other local ones, and they don't. Here's what you need to look for; the conchinita, el pastor, and the steak tacos. Want a local tip?* Ask to have it Mexican style. It comes with corn or flour tortillas, lime wedges, onion and cilantro topping, and an awesome habanero sauce with a ramekin of habanero relish*. Cant go wrong. Trust me. The pork chops and the grilled chicken(not the half chicken but the marinated breast) are amazing. They also serve a grilled steak, tomato, and onion plate(get it Mexican style) that the flavor of a perfectly seasoned grilled steak just bursts through and marries with the onion and tomato. I know this is hard to believe but even their rice is better than any others out there. It's not bland and red but it is ACTUALLY seasoned! In the mood for a margarita? Don't bother with the regular margaritas but go straight for the Texas style. Made with fresh limes and tequila that will quench your thirst. As you might be able to tell, I'm a regular to this place. The service is always great and my kids love to go anytime to get authentic Mexican. Last but not least, just about anytime I'm here there are always Mexican patrons. That is a good clue that these folks have good...
Read moreFree been dip and salsa just for sitting down! This was sadly the highlight of the visit here.
When trying new Mexi-joints... i generally like to to go with a classic Nacho dish (Nachos Supremos in this case). Ehhh... Though not as large, a Nachos Bel Grande from Taco Bell would have been a bit tastier. The nacho dish was served on a large plate, and seemed a bit pre-pepared and popped in the oven... here's why I say that:
Food came out in about 5 minutes flat (if not less) The plate itself and food on the bottom was hot along with singed edges on chips, while food on top was literally cold Lettuce and veggies were not only cold, they were a bit wet as if rinsed right before refrigerating
So you agree? Pretty obvious right? Along with this, I like to eat my nachos with a fork... everything all mixed together. In this case, that's a good thing. If were to eat my nachos chip by chip, I'd be disappointed. Meat and chips on the bottom of the dish, and lettuce covering the entire top of the dish. In between these two layers were 3 separate "piles" of beans, cheese and sour creme. Really? Melted cheese only in 1 section of my NACHOS??? C'mon!
Service was great and decor is nice... nothing too fancy but feels like it should be a fun atmosphere... too bad the new chicken tacos at Taco Bell are a...
