Chicken Salad Chick — Restaurant in Hoover

UPDATE: I was contacted by a member of management after leaving this review and they sent me some gift cards for free chicken salad. I will raise my rating one star and give this location another chance.

Original review; Normally I love chicken salad chick but after getting two pints of two different types of chicken salads yesterday I will never go back. (At least not to the Hoover location). I gave it a second star because in all fairness the chicken salad has always been good (at any other location i have been to) but my experience at this particular location was not good. In BOTH salads, the chicken was dry dry DRY and had a mouth feel of what I imagine chewing shredded cardboard or hay would be like, despite being drenched in Mayo. In addition, one of the salads was inedibly salty. The order was takeout so I was home before I tried to eat it. Had I been in the restaurant, I surely would have complained to the manager on duty and returned the salads, but I was not willing to make a special trip to return the salads. Oh my, oh my so this place got two stars because the food I had was good, otherwise one. The reason I dislike this place was the service.

First when ordering we picked several items from the kids menu and everything we picked was not available. They had one kids item out of the selection of 5 items. Then after the cashier correctly read back our order when we looked at the receipt it was wrong. Different from what she read back to us. When going to a manager to get it corrected, the manager had to wait on the cashier to finish with another order. This order was simple and the cashier could not get it right either. While waiting I told the manager that I was going to set down with my family instead of waiting at the front. We finished our meal, I typed this review and our problem is still not resolved.

I love me some Chicken Salad Chick! This was my first time visiting this particular location but my experience was just as pleasant. It was during a weekday lunchtime so needless to say the place was packed out. Took about 10 mins to reach the counter to place my order.

Typically I go with one of the spicy options and get it as a sandwich on a croissant and today was no different. However, since the last time I'd visited the Homewood location, I'd never seen the flavor "Kickin' Kay Lynne". Of course I'm intrigued by the description of: Buffalo sauce, ranch, bacon, shredded cheddar, jalapenos and sriracha. Ummm... YES PLEASE!!! Easily my new favorite flavor.

Just remember, if you're not quite that adventurous with flavors, it's quite alright... there's a little bit of something for everybody and they'll let you try as many samples as you want... literally, so take your time!
