I can't say it's the best Cajun restaurant I've ever been to, but it certainly was far from the worst. The vibe of the place definitely reminded of some non-touristy restaurants I've been to in New Orleans proper, for better or worse. It's kind of a small place, cramped and a bit dark... Not really clean, either. Again, just like New Orleans! My diner partner and I tried the boudin balls appetizer, which was passable. The boudin used is exceptionally creamy and smooth, which was unusual as I've always had more chunky preparations. It was not strongly flavored, so it should be a good dish for picky eaters. A light light hit of red pepper was the most prominent flavor. There was almost no offal taste at all. For the main event I got the blackened gator poboy with a side of seafood gumbo instead of the default chips. The gator pieces were on the small side but plentiful; the blackening was light, with zero heat but the light flavor actually complemented the gator, which is a bit game-y compared to, say, chicken. The Gambino bread was great. The seafood gumbo was good standard gumbo: not spicy, not bitter and not too watery. Again, a light pepper was the only source of heat in this bowl. The overall flavor profile reminded me a lot of a gumbo that a friend's New Orleans-born and raised mom made for me. There wasn't much in the way of seafood in it, sadly, except for a crab claw that was all shell and no meat. The rice was also undercooked and hard but not inedible. The remoulade served with the boudin balls also complimented the gator. It has no kick whatsoever, and is quite thick and creamy, almost the consistency of Zaxy's chicken fingers sauce. Sweet tea was passable (which is about as good as one can hope for from Louisiana) and service was acceptable if a bit scatterbrained. It was clear that there was too much going on for too few people to handle on the weekend I visited. My dining partner had one of the seafood pasta specialities that was marked with a "slightly spicy' mark but it was not spicy at all. The cream sauce and tri-color pasta were bland, only the great sausage had any real bite to it. Overall, a pretty authentic representation of New Orleans' signature style -- Cajun, but more Creole and therefore less spicy.

So the crab cakes that we ordered were great and that's about the only thing that was good about our meal My wife ordered the stuffed grouper and the grouper was very dry had zero flavor and when my wife and I asked to replace it with something else we were told by the server that they don't remove items off of a receipt that we would have to pay for that and also whatever else my wife ordered and then I had ordered the crab crazy pot and if you want corn and potatoes it's an upcharge also the crabs were no flavor they very difficult to get into we got there at 10 minutes to 4:00 we were seated at 4:00 we had reservations for four we received it at 4:00 and then we did not get out of there till almost 6:00 we were one of the first tables to be seated and it took us forever to get our food and to get out of there but this was our first time eating here it was recommended by several nurses from Grandview hospital here in Hoover and that was on Valentine's Day and on Tuesday the 18th I finally was able to get through to speak to a manager and all he would say was come back and I would be treated better but they do not refund anything so there's that so I will not be eating there ever again and I don't recommend it to anyone

Took my dad, boyfriend and grandmother here for her birthday. It was our first time coming in. We weren’t greeted at the front. Waited and looked around until the bartender asked how many we had. My grandmother needed a booth and we all wanted to be comfortable to talk to one another so I suggested a booth in the corner of the restaurant and he said we couldn’t sit there cause it accommodates six people and we only had four. Keep in mind it’s 3 in the afternoon.. Eventually we find something to order and it comes out looking decent, but we all didn’t really like the food. I had sautéed crab claws with gumbo and mash potatoes (28$). It was not worth it. The crab claws were small and had so much seasoning on them I couldn’t enjoy them. But we were all so hungry we had to eat. I asked the server if my crab claws were blackened cause they were covered and he said no. The gumbo said it’s the best around for 3 years.. not good.. The music was also very loud and played the same song over and over (accordion). Yes the server did his job, but did not have a good attitude. He acted like he maybe was annoyed about something. All in all, we wouldn't like to go back.

20240402 We came back here for lunch before I head home on my road trip. Lauren was great! She was very attentive. To my disappointment, the food we ordered today wasn't that good. Crabcake was mostly stuffing. Saw some crab pieces. The Ettoufee was too salty, and the crawfish was soo tiny. Raw oyster was good, but the baked oysters were a bit overbaked, small. The stuffed shrimp was ok, kind of dry for my liking. I will stick to the stuffed crab next time. 20240327 😱 20% tip was already included in my bill. When I was paying with my credit card, it asked for tip. So I tipped $30 for $140 total, not knowing that 20% tip was included!! 😱 Good thing Ricardo was great, and with Bidenomics... the extra tip might help Ricardo out. I guess I should check my bills in the future. 20240326 so happy this restaurant is dogfriendly. In town for a day and wanted a nice meal with my friend and her family. Ricardo was the best waiter. He was attentive, and very polite and nice. The food was delicious. I really like the stuffed grouper.

Tried this restaurant for the first time today and it was okay not much to brag about. I wanted to sit at the bar but seating wasn’t available do to the covid thing I guess. I was sitting for about a good 15 minutes before the server approached me which was disappointing because I already knew what I wanted. I think it was like 2 guys working by themselves. But food was VERY HOT. I’m not a big seafood eater but wanted some fried shrimp. The fried green tomatoes were very hot and fresh. My double shot of Rum was kind of watered down but I still got tipsy so no complaints. Jon was my server he was okay.. Kinda expensive. I had 2 appetizers (shrimp and fried green tomatoes), double shot of rum, and a bud light which came out to $32. But I was full and satisfied far as food so no complaints but it wasn’t worth $32. It’s very small so I can’t wait until they move to the new location so I can visit again to see if they make improvements on the staff. But after that I probably won’t go back.

This place was recommended. As a Google critic I give this 15 out of 15 stars. Food well seasoned, absolutely delicious. Fried green tomatoes a must. Golden crispy lightly drizzled with a wonderful mustard sauce. Great wine select, happy hour a must. The coleslaw wasn't appetizing to us. The only con. Staff absolutely awesome. Where's "Lucy" naturally earned a wonderful tip. He was training another staff member and im sure if they are anything like him they will provide wonderful services. He was kind, and patient. Lucy answered all questions along with awesome suggestions. Ask for him. 5 star waiter. Happy hour had a wonderful atmosphere. Not overly crowded. Restaurant has a Louisiana river side vibe. Small, clean indoor and outdoor seating. High top bar nice. I have high expectations for this place. Im in hopes upon return the same qualities will be provided. Foodies, if you haven't tried, add this to your list.
