My husband and I went to Brasa for the first time for lunch. We ended up sharing a plate of the smothered rotisserie chicken, had a side of fried plantains and added a side of sweet, candy yams. The food was outstanding. I was surprised by this smothered chicken, not being spicy, but it was tender and delicious, and I wish I’d had my own plate to myself. The fried plantains were crispy and flavorful, sweet and sticky the way I like them The candy yams were also very well done. I was impressed by the meal and I really liked the speed of service. I was a little taking it back by the cost of the meals sharing a plate with my husband was $24. We both felt like it wasn’t enough food to share but at the same time for first time meal we didn’t know if we wanted to go all in on a $50 lunch for two . I would recommend this if it’s in your price range I’m glad they’re in the Hopkins area because they are providing high-quality food with great service within walking distance of my house

It has been several years since I have visited a Brasa. I’m glad that I came back today. I happened to stumble across the newest location in Hopkins and decided to have lunch. We had Jordan as a server and I must say we were very lucky to have him as a server. He walked us through the menu with grace and suggested some very incredible options. I went with the pork bowl I will add a picture of it was amazing. The true test of a great restaurant is you want to try several things on the menu which is what I will do by coming back more often. The space inside is pretty small and they have a nice little outdoor patio. Such a cool over all neighborhood spot. I definitely recommend this process to anyone and hopefully you get Jordan as a server. If you are like me, you probably think that there is no table service in these restaurants, but this particular location provides great service and it Isn’t just counter service

Flavorful chicken and mouth-watering rice and peas. Brings back great memories, as this is something I had growing up in a Caribbean household. Wish I had known and visited their other locations prior to discovering the newly opened hopkins location, as I was missing out. Looking forward to many more visits and trying other dishes. Portion size did feel a bit less for what you pay for, but I’m sure they’re using higher quality ingredients. Location is a bit small, would recommend take out, ordering through the app, or go during non-peak hours.

First off, it's pronounced Bra-Sa, not Bra-Za so lets get that right out in the open. Second, Brasa Hopkins is new, its fresh, with the best ingredients available and served by the best people in the business. If you want good clean food and flavor that takes you all over the creole south of the US to the Caribbean and Mexico, then Brasa is the place. Its made from scratch the minute you order it, takes on average 5 minutes or less to be served piping hot, the space is spotless and and well organized, making take out or sit down dining both viable options. My personal favorites are as follows:

  1. The Chicken and how can it not be, its what they hang their hat on. Be sure to get plenty of their famous magic green sauce. Not sure what's in there but it levels up everything it touches and I personally have a food crush on it.
  2. I ain't no Vegan, but dang it I love the Vegetable and Chickpea Curry with just the right balance of curry, coconut milk, and delicious veggies and yellow rice. *Expert Hack - Add side of chicken, or side of catfish filet and break it up and give it a stir, or best yet two soft runny eggs laid right on top and let that yolk run. These people know how to cook eggs to perfection.
  3. The Catfish Sandy - Perfection as-is where-is, it may be the only item on the menu I don't add a thing cause its literally perfect. BTW, whats wrong with you 'sota people, y'all need to break out of your comfy little shell made of lutefisk or whatever and try catfish done right at Brasa, cause their that far more fun but a little naughty cousin, of the overrated overhyped Walleye.
  4. Puddin, yep that's right Puddin. Not Pudd-ing, but Puddin. Say it, it's so much simpler to say it that way. Its the best I have ever tasted and the texture blows the tastebuds away. Currently there's a huge battle going on in my circle of foodie friends to decide first place between the Butterscotch and Coconut. *Rumor has it their might even be Pistachio Puddin being added as a special, but we'll see what ole' Jordan's got up his sleeve. No pressure though. My two Foodie Friends favorites are as follows: Foodie Friend Joe, loves the The OG, Roasted Pork Bowl, with an over easy egg, yellow rice, jalapeño spinach, crispy onions and red sauce. He likes to bump it up and turn up the heat by adding in a side of Alonso's Habanero Sauce. Foodie Friend Neal, is the master of his domain and never veers from ordering his go to fave, Huevos Rancheros with two fried runny eggs, crispy corn tortillas, black beans, jack cheese, guacamole, red sauce and pickled onions. He likes to get a side of the Brasa Red Sauce which is medium heat w/tomatillo, roasted tomato & chiles, a legendary sauce to kick it up a bit.

The prices are so easy on the wallet, food and service is five star, and its in a comfortable casual atmosphere where everyone seems to be happy about something, and I'm guessing it's the fact they've entered the Brasa Zone. Why keep cooking? Why keep hitting the drive-thru's? This place has it all, great people and vibe, excellent value, easy to find in Downtown Hopkins, and all the parking you could want from their parking lot to the ample street parking (and no parking meters unlike other western suburbs who lost their...

If you enjoy a little bit of curry with tons of rice, OR a tiny bite of chicken AND you could eat yellow rice FOR DAYS, this is your place! We were so excited to go but oh so disappointed! We joked about how the manager was looking over the staff's shoulders as they were dishing up the meals - encouraging more rice, more rice and tiny, tiny portions of everything else -"no not so much, try more rice". I had the vegan bowl and added a piece of chicken. The bowl didn't even have a quarter cup of curry and it only covered one side of the rice- it was good but not enough to even be able to enjoy it- I'm talking 4-5 small bites. The rest of the bowl included copious amounts of rice (they did a good job of disguising in the presentation). The piece of chicken was amazingly small - and then I removed the big bone. Sigh.....And that all came to $17.63. I felt like I was eating rice forever and still threw away a huge portion. My friend had a platter and honestly he had enough rice for a family of four at a sit down dinner w/ leftovers! He went to the counter and added another piece of chicken once we sat down to get some adequate food. We thought they were closed when arriving- Thursday early evening, we were the only ones. Maybe not the best strategy to crazy skimp on portions (except the rice) in their first month open! But hey, more profit...
