First off, it's pronounced Bra-Sa, not Bra-Za so lets get that right out in the open. Second, Brasa Hopkins is new, its fresh, with the best ingredients available and served by the best people in the business. If you want good clean food and flavor that takes you all over the creole south of the US to the Caribbean and Mexico, then Brasa is the place. Its made from scratch the minute you order it, takes on average 5 minutes or less to be served piping hot, the space is spotless and and well organized, making take out or sit down dining both viable options. My personal favorites are as follows:
The prices are so easy on the wallet, food and service is five star, and its in a comfortable casual atmosphere where everyone seems to be happy about something, and I'm guessing it's the fact they've entered the Brasa Zone. Why keep cooking? Why keep hitting the drive-thru's? This place has it all, great people and vibe, excellent value, easy to find in Downtown Hopkins, and all the parking you could want from their parking lot to the ample street parking (and no parking meters unlike other western suburbs who lost their...
Read moreIf you enjoy a little bit of curry with tons of rice, OR a tiny bite of chicken AND you could eat yellow rice FOR DAYS, this is your place! We were so excited to go but oh so disappointed! We joked about how the manager was looking over the staff's shoulders as they were dishing up the meals - encouraging more rice, more rice and tiny, tiny portions of everything else -"no not so much, try more rice". I had the vegan bowl and added a piece of chicken. The bowl didn't even have a quarter cup of curry and it only covered one side of the rice- it was good but not enough to even be able to enjoy it- I'm talking 4-5 small bites. The rest of the bowl included copious amounts of rice (they did a good job of disguising in the presentation). The piece of chicken was amazingly small - and then I removed the big bone. Sigh.....And that all came to $17.63. I felt like I was eating rice forever and still threw away a huge portion. My friend had a platter and honestly he had enough rice for a family of four at a sit down dinner w/ leftovers! He went to the counter and added another piece of chicken once we sat down to get some adequate food. We thought they were closed when arriving- Thursday early evening, we were the only ones. Maybe not the best strategy to crazy skimp on portions (except the rice) in their first month open! But hey, more profit...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Brasa for the first time for lunch. We ended up sharing a plate of the smothered rotisserie chicken, had a side of fried plantains and added a side of sweet, candy yams. The food was outstanding. I was surprised by this smothered chicken, not being spicy, but it was tender and delicious, and I wish I’d had my own plate to myself. The fried plantains were crispy and flavorful, sweet and sticky the way I like them The candy yams were also very well done. I was impressed by the meal and I really liked the speed of service. I was a little taking it back by the cost of the meals sharing a plate with my husband was $24. We both felt like it wasn’t enough food to share but at the same time for first time meal we didn’t know if we wanted to go all in on a $50 lunch for two . I would recommend this if it’s in your price range I’m glad they’re in the Hopkins area because they are providing high-quality food with great service within walking...
