Ok. At a glance, the menu is mainly "pub grub". But if that's all it was, it was some of the tastiest pub grub I've had in a while. We started with 'plain old' chicken quesadilla.....amazing. pulled chicken mixed with southwest spices, cheese, onions and peppers (not too overpowering), I could have had this as an entree and been happy. We ordered two sandwiches and if you are in the school of thought that the bread makes the sandwich, you would be in heaven. Not to mention the entirety of each sandwich was delicious. Chicken, pesto, arugula, prosciutto on a seeded soft hoagie roll....mmmmm. I also strongly recommend cheese steak afficionados check out their "pounder". It's safely in my top ten ever. Shaved rib eye, sharp cooler american, and that delectable seeded soft sesame hoagie roll that should be required by law that all serious subs be served on. Now, the topper for me, my personal criteria for a really good cheese steak is that the meat is chipped fine. Done and done. The only thing other that I'm deducting any points from this experience for: Seats at the tables sank in, not very comfortable Sandwiches came with a bag of chips?!? I'm sure they could have subbed for fries, etc, but we weren't even asked. Next time I'll know! I've never had such tasty sandwiches in a great setting accompanied by a bag of chips. Change that and I'm not sure I can knock this place. Bar was crowded at 6pm on a Thursday, but that is a good sign, too. Would highly recommend, looking forward to...
Read moreSix to eight times a year folks from all over the country come in for conferences and have we have always patronized MaGerks for our no host receptions. Since 2016 the staff has always been great in allowing us to pay as we go and/or run individual tabs. We greatly appreciated their efforts and rewarded their hard work and professionalism with generous gratuities. Without going into conversations with the Manager relative to a new policy whereas a group of individuals can not pay for their own beverages and food, was embarrassing for all. The manager told us there was an ATM machine where we could get cash but we couldn't pay cash to the server paying separately. At this point we became embarrassed for the Manager because she made no sense at all. We then attempted to order from the bar and were told we couldn't do that either. In seven years, we never had a server shy away because "it was too hard". This is another form service mediocracy to make the customer work harder to spend their money. Bartenders juggle 25+ patrons with individual tabs and they work hard. Hopefully their hard work is rewarded with gracious gratuities. Sorry to say, we'll not be recommending MaGerks to our attendees in the future but the attitude of the Manager reflected that she didn't...
Read moreI went here hungry after a 12 hour day at work and ordered a ton of food. French onion soup, boneless wings, and a classic burger. My friend ordered nachos which looked awesome but the chips were the hardest chips I've ever had the displeasure of trying to eat. He offered me to them and I tried 2 chips and that was enough for me.
French onion soup was good! It was refreshing because the wings were below Applebee's grade. (No offense if you like Applebee's boneless wings) which at Applebee's are actually worth the $5 after 9pm... These were far less palatable than even those boneless wings.
The biggest disappointment of all was my burger, which they advertised as "mouthwatering signature blend". It might have been "signature" but it wasn't mouthwatering by any means and with how thin it was, I'd be surprised if they could make it the only way you should enjoy a burger, medium rare.
This is a hard pass for me and I'll stick with Penn taproom for my pub food.
Literally as I'm writing this review a co-worker was passing by and I asked "have you ever been to magerks" he said "yes there's one in Horsham and one near me in fort Washington, the foods terrible".
That was a totally candid and unprompted remark from him. He has no clue I was asking as I'm writing...
