Big Chicken — Restaurant in Houston

Update: Amending my original review as management came over and apologized for things along with explained the reason for the delay in service. Plus gave a sample of new frozen beverage. Knowing now that they were short staffed (couple people called out and another manager quit) makes me more compassionate to them not having a person staffing the bar. I may go closer to their happy hour time but will give them grace as they really do deserve the 5 stars.

Original review: This was my 2nd visit to this location. The only reason for the 4 stars (and its more like 4 and a half, but that's not a rating) is that I decided to go to their bar during this visit. I will say that they really should hire a bartender to be at the bar during hours of service. I had to wait for their bar person to come serve me. They told me I could order food at the bar but no one informed me that it would be double wait time for my food going that route. I literally had to get up to figure out why it was taking so long for my order. I literally finished my drink by the time I got my food. Plus, I saw a man come sit at the bar and nobody ever acknowledged him. He ended up leaving. I don't know if I came too early ( I did come in around 2pm) and they have a bartender more so when they have happy hour or what. If that is the case, they should have a sign that states the bar is closed and bar hours. I honestly would have left because of how long I waited but I hadn't paid for my drink. My husband and I was planning to eat pizza next door but called an audible by eating here instead. OMG best decision ever. First of all, the atmosphere was so relaxing, the decor was cute, the bar area was nice and everything was super clean!

Service: when ordering, the worker at the register was SO sweet and patient with me since I was so indecisive as it was my first time there and hadn't done the prep work in reviewing the menu prior to going like I normally do with restaurants. She also made me a great margarita. Later on, she noticed I had barely touched my margarita and offered to make me a new one, but it was only because I was too busy scarfing down my yummy food, so yes I did drink my original margarita haha. We got checked on throughout our meal to make sure the food was to our liking, which is was! Also, the food came out in a timely manner.

Food: the chicken was so fresh and juicy! I'm normally picky when it comes to chicken, but I inhaled my food. I barely talked to my husband at all during our lunch because I was too busy eating. The fries were crispy and fresh as well, not greasy. The different sauce variety they had was a nice touch. The Mac & cheese was good!

First of all I ordered my food I had a uncle Jerome here & it came out it had the wrong sauce on it.. It was supposed to come with mayo and it had Shaq sauce on it. I went to dine in at the bar with a couple of friends they didn’t even have a bartender I’m pretty sure it was just the manager taking our order and he would leave the bar and not come back for 10-15 minutes at a time .. My friend ordered the dirty fries and literally had to eat them with his hands because he was not provided a fork and there was nobody present at the bar who we could ask for a fork. Took about 20 minutes just to get another drink. The sandwiches are also significantly smaller than they were when we first started going to big chicken about a year ago at the westheimer location.. service was slow and we will definitely not be coming back.
