My roommate and I stopped here today because I saw the good reviews and we were on our way to get something to eat after stopping at the grocery store. I got a glimpse of it in my peripheral and was super excited because I wanted to try it since reading some reviews that were very good. I remembered someone mentioning the price was pretty high, but the reviews seem to justify higher prices. Here’s my experience:

We ordered our food, just the two of us. I got a Philly cheesesteak, and my roommate got (can’t remember) overload or something. $15 for my sandwich and $5 for fries. Altogether a little more than $22 for a Philly cheesesteak and fries. Roommate’s meal was about $22 also. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that it took them approximately 45 minutes to make our food. I used to cook for a living, and that’s kind of an understatement. Nevertheless, I’ve been in the restaurant industry for a very long time and if a meal takes 45 minutes, then I’m either at a place that is very exclusive, or I’m at a place that will comp the meal entirely because of the fact that it took 45 minutes. The latter usually holds true. I wasn’t really looking for anything free. I wanted to support local business and as annoyed as I was, I tried to be cordial, pay the cost, and enjoy my long awaited meal. I understand inflation, and what it entails. However, $22.28 was something that I would never shop for again in a sandwich and fries for 45 minutes. What was I even thinking in the first place. I’ll admit I’m a bit salt-sensitive but the seasoning on this was unbearable. The salt was overpowering and the sandwich itself could not be eaten like a normal sandwich; knife and fork deal, you know, super sloppy. That would’ve been fine, but it was extremely salty. Yes, along the lines of other reviews that you will read, the staff are very friendly. I would be too, as an owner. I was looking forward to paying for an overpriced meal that I wanted to come back for again and again. My roommate liked his food to their credit. He ordered something that was more in harmony with Cajun style cooking, as opposed to a Philly cheesesteak. I wouldn’t leave 3 stars, but simply because of the fact that I don’t want to bring the score down too much, I feel like leaving 3. Maybe I just had a bad experience. Extremely long wait with super salty food at ridiculously high prices. But again, friendly staff, and the cook apologized for the timely we wait. The other person on deck told me that it takes a while to cook the special. They obviously didn’t realize that they were telling that to a long time professional cook but whatever. I hope they succeed with their business,...

This place is a hidden gem that I rode past for quite some time! I just so happened to be in the area & came across this restaurant. For starters the name itself is so unique and cool! I checked out the reviews and saw they had top tier flavorful food! Don't let the location of this place through you off. It might give you hole in the wall on the outside, but once you get inside the smell immediately makes you feel at home! Side note just have a little patience after placing your order. The old folks always said "Good Things Come To Those Who Wait! The lady (I Think Her Name Was Mrs Angel) who took my order was a complete sweetheart! I believe the man that was preparing the food alongside Mrs Angel was her husband Bob (who was also very cool but was focused on kicking butt in the kitchen)! Angel offered me samples of 2 of their most popular items the gumbo and overload! Me being from New Orleans whenever I see gumbo I'm like a kid in a candy store! The gumbo here is loaded with the usual shrimp, sausage, chicken etc and the roux is bursting with flavor! It reminded me so much of my granny and mother's gumbo in so many ways! The next item I tried was their very popular overload! My God Today! This stuff makes almost made me break out in tongues when I tried it! I don't even have to go in to details about the overload! The reviews didn't fail me! All I'm going to say is try it! You won't be disappointed! The next item I tried because of its unique name was the Shramburger (which I believe is a turkey burger infused with shrimp and many more flavorful pleasantries) this might be one of the best burgers I ever had in my life! I don't mean this lightly! This place reminds so much of my childhood days when I visited my granny or one of my aunties that can cook their behinds off! I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu! I plan on trying every item on the menu over time! These guys have a new fond customer for life or long as they are...

This was a remarkable Google find. This is exactly what I use Google maps for. So today, a friend and I went here for lunch. When we arrived at 12:00 the guy who was cooking had to have walked in 5 minutes before us. Not a single burner was on in the kitchen. Ah, man..... we stayed anyway as the man assured us he it was going to be great. We ordered Catfish and Grits, and I ordered the Overload. We grabbed some Gatorades and sat to wait. We waited for about 35 minutes and the dude came out gave us a small sausage sandwich as an appetizer/thanks for being patient. Simple roll up with a 1/2 slice of America cheese. It was welcomed and was great, something my grandfather would have handed as a child. We waited again for another 5-10 minutes, and he produced a small cup of cheese grits. I can not remember ever having Grits taste so wonderfully good. Then after about an hour our food was served. The Catfish and Grits was brought out first. Excellent, again those same Grits were the base. Next was the Overload, at least 17 shrimp along with that same delightful sausage, and chicken was served in a Cajun cream sauce that was absolutely dreamy. I can not wait to get back here and try the gumbo. 2 other people came in just to get the gumbo but were turned away cause it wasn't done yet. They were told to come back in hour or so and they both said absolutely... I think if gumbo is so good that people would come back after their lunchtime to get it, its gotta be great. As I was paying they thanked us for our patience, gave each of us a German Chocolate cake to go. I am definitely coming back here. Next time my order will blackened shrimp and Grits. Try this place out and give them the love...

The place is located inside the small gas station. As soon as we entered the store, the smell from the kitchen was mouth watering. There were only 3 small round tables with 2 chairs each. We were immediately welcomed as we approached the area and were told that the best sellers were the hot topic and the overload. But due to it being Lent Friday, we just opted for the Fish & Shrimp with Fries and The Hot Topic. We came in at 12:35pm and it seemed like they were already really busy considering they just opened at 12pm (which is always a good sign of good food so I was really excited!). It's a family owned business that has been around for 2 years. Although the wait was a bit long, you can see all 4 of them (a couple and 2 daughters?) running around in the small kitchen working diligently to make orders for everyone. They're just honest, friendly, and hard-working people and I would love to come back and try out the other popular dishes. The Fish & Shrimp with Fries were 6.5/10. Flavor was good. There were 2 pieces of fried fish and 8 pieces of small-medium fried shrimp. Fish was flakey and moist and nothing was fishy. The fries were a bit of a disappointment as they were not crispy but limp and soggy. For $20, I just anticipated something a bit better... We still finished all of it though. The Hot Topic were 9/10. Well seasoned, not too salty & has a little kick. There were 2 blackened filet fish and grilled shrimps in a creamy sauce over a bed of white rice. The rice was a bit harder than we would've liked, but overall still a good dish. If lime or lemon was offered with this, I just think it would add a great balance to it, but that's just my preference.

If you are ever looking for a hidden gem in the great big city of Houston, you must stop by Bobob’s!! I work in 2nd ward and a coworker mentioned a super good Cajun spot! I took a look at the photos and spotted some blacked fish fillets, I had to try it for myself. The establishment is connected to a gas station store front. Through the aisles of sodas and chips, right past the slot machines is the most welcoming family, good tunes and a whole lot of love in the cooking. I was quickly offered a sample of the most popular plate The Overload. The sauce was a creamy well seasoned parade of flavor. My friend ordered hers and got it in a flash, I’m talking seconds. I had a wait because I ordered a plate of fried shrimp & fries for my coworker, not a problem because this family has found the magic and they are selling it by the plate! I left with the Hot Topic for myself. It’s a pile of fresh hot rice, topped with beautifully blackened fish, and some scrumptious blackened shrimp and that delicious sauce on top to pop it off. Everything that sauce touched turned to a delicious golden bath of flavor. Now, I just heard this family is from Louisiana, bless their hearts for moving to Houston, if not I wouldn’t had found my favorite Cajun spot! Hoping, wishing and praying they get an establishment, it would go far. Bless this family with your visit! You will not regret it! Follow them on Instagram, shout them out on the radio, try everything on the menu! I know I will!
