Move over, Chipotle! I am extremely thrilled with my visit today for lunch. I’m not sure if I looked like I didn’t know what I was doing, but Elliot immediately came to the actual line and walked me through the process of how to order. He was so helpful and explained everything in great detail. He even helped check me out to complete my transaction. This is the kind of person you want representing your establishment. Customer service A+! I ordered the burrito in a buttermilk flour tortilla. I opted for the white rice, with chicken and steak for my protein. All toppings are included except for the avocado and the warm queso. Both are an additional charge. I did not add those, but I never do even if they are free. I was offered extra sauce on the side. They have several to choose from at different spice ranges. Fountain drinks are available and they also have sweet mint tea. It was very refreshing! The ice is nugget type which always makes me happy. There’s just something about nugget ice! The atmosphere is Baja California decor with surf boards, marine life photos, and upbeat music. Seating is plentiful. They also have a few picnic benches outside. My huge burrito was very good, but too much for me to finish. Unfortunately, I had an appointment immediately following my lunch, so I could not take my leftovers. They would not have lasted in my car with the summer heat. Dang! The meat was tender, the flour tortilla was fresh, and the topping to sauce ratio was perfect! Total meal cost was $16.20 before tip. Still wish I could have taken my uneaten portion with me and doubled down on meals. Next time! They have vegan and vegetarian options too, so don’t overlook this place. They cater to all. So, as I said, move over, Chipotle! You have a burrito competitor who has a new customer! Thanks for your help, Elliot! I’ll be...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal Cabo Bob’s customer for the past 90 days, (since I first tasted your food) — honestly, I’ve eaten here about 80% of the time during that stretch. My go-to order is the same every time: a bowl with rice, double steak, grilled onions, grilled zucchini, cheese, ancho ranch dressing, lime juice, and chips with queso. Normally, I visit the 59 & West Airport location, which is amazing — clean, fresh, quick, and always consistent.
Unfortunately, this experience at the Fountainview location was the complete opposite. • The line wasn’t clean — there was visible buildup on the stainless steel by the queso, which was pretty unappetizing. • The onions looked raw, not grilled as they should be. • I politely asked the team member if they could sauté a small portion since they clearly weren’t cooked, and there was no one waiting behind me. The person helping me seemed willing, but another employee jumped in and rudely said, “We don’t do that.”
As someone who leads a district team in retail, I understand what great customer service and clean operations look like — and this wasn’t it. I ended up walking out without ordering because I wasn’t comfortable eating what I was served or being treated that way.
I still love Cabo Bob’s and will absolutely continue going to my regular location on 59 & West Airport, where the standards are always high. But I won’t be returning to this Fountainview location unless there’s a clear improvement in cleanliness, food quality, and...
Read moreDelicious and affordable burrito bowls and burritos! And yes, it is better than Chipotle, which we used to frequent often before coming here. We order take out probably once every other week, and the quality and quantity is consistently excellent. We have tried the chicken, fried fish, brisket, and chips + queso.
Vibe: Feels like you're on vacation along the coastal beaches of southern California. Very casual and relaxing.
Food: The chicken is tender and flavorful. As the fried fish is not as frequently ordered, it is nearly always freshly fried and crunchy, and always delicious. The chips and queso are very good! Queso is the perfect texture for dipping/scooping and spiced well - complements the burrito or burrito bowl perfectly. The chips are pretty thick and hold the queso well. I only ordered the brisket once and I was personally not a fan of the flavor and texture (it's kind of saucy/watery) but I can understand why some people would like it. Our favorite sauce is the chipotle crema - very creamy and smoky. The portion size is very generous. While we typically get burrito bowls, we did try a smoky cheddar burrito once and it was fantastic! You can really note the great quality of the tortilla, nothing beats the texture and flavor of a freshly made tortilla.
Service: The employees are very kind and helpful with answering any questions.
We definitely recommend coming here to give it a try! Cabo Bob's is Let's...
