Capt. Benny's — Restaurant in Houston

i have been a patron for over 20 years at this location, frequently visiting when i have to travel out of hobby airport. my experience on 10/21 was not one of the most pleasant and definitely not handled appropriately. after my husband discovered a roach nearing his food and removed it, it was brough to the attention of the waiter, never did he call the manager over. at this time a restaurant full of patrons was aware of what had happened. as we continued to finish our drinks and close out we were given a tab for the full amount of our food and drinks $74. i then asked so you really charging us the full amount, by then another roach directly to the right of men the bar was crawling on the bar in front of another couple who had already witnessed what happened to us. i find the insensitivity of the manager very unprofessional and its apparent that there is a rodent problem, close down a few days and try to clean it up. will never...

I went with my wife and brought a new friend cause the gumbo was good. So I ended up ordering oysters and end up finding a mosquito in my dipping sauce so I called the waiter and had it replaced. First off the napkin hold sign said 9.99 for gulf oysters all day everyday ,then when I get the tab they charged 12.99. So I had called for the manager and argued with me saying it was a special but how is it a special when it was 9.99 all day everyday .?!? Then I had told him about the mosquito in my sauce and he had said it was not his problem nd I had said I told the waiter and the waiter replace it with our concern about the mosquito after I informed him about it. Then I asked the manager his name and he replied with a angry voice saying it was Benny and they know him as Benny and did not want to give his last name cause he said it was not oblige to know it. I was up set cause I've bin coming here...

Disappointing. Fries were limp and heavy with grease. Fried oysters had almost no meat, were prebreaded from a bag and smaller than a thumb. Stuffed jalapenos were soggy, all heat with no flavor. Broiled stuffed catfish was thin fillets buried under two cups of mushy, oversalted stuffing. Even the rice was greasy. Coleslaw wasn't good or bad. Garlic bread was meh. Tartar sauce was okay. This was a to go order. I must note the place was crowded, and most folk seemed happy enough, which was encouraging. So, I'm not sure if I got a bad order, or folks are just acclimated to their local greasy spoon - every city has a few! Service was brief so can't speak to that.
