Read reviews saw overall rating as good but I should of read the negatives. Cliff's hamburger grill is 2 blocks away from us so we wanted to give it a try. To our disappointment with my 4 kids, I ordered 4 cheeseburgers and 1 hamburger meal unsure what the upcharge was instead of just ordering 2 fries and water on the side. I was not given receipt before he went off to fill order as I signed the screen. Notice the price charged was higher than menu pricing by about a dollar. Another issue I saw was that the meal with the fries n drink was included in combo order but he also added about $3 more to get curly fries! $7 to make combo and another $3 to change to curly. That's a small drink and a fry for $10 more! My total bill was about $82 for dry burgers with small slice of regular cheese and too muuh mayonaise and mustard. Food was not good at all except for the fries n friendly service. NOT good food and price was outrageous!!! I could make much better burgers at home! We do not recommend and will not be coming back to support subpar food and overpriced charging method. If you want to charge people to substitute fries it should be no more than a dollar and tell them first if that was ok. If you guys going to charge higher, update the price so we as customers are aware befor ordering. We were ripped off. My baby girl said it was bad she could not finish her burger with only about 1/4 eaten. I feel others should know about...
Read moreThe pro's: I appreciate the support for Folds of Honor via RedGold ketchup packets.
The con's: Walked in to pick up my order...realized I forgot a drink. Grabbed a bottle of Ozarka (normal, 16.9oz) from the cooler. Guy at counter rang it up as 'side of ranch - $1.75' TWICE then, after tax was added, told me the total was $3.68.
For a bottle of water that runs about $5 for 24pack? No thanks. Nevermind. That's a crazy markup.
Got my food, left. $18.94 for a single cheeseburger and an oversized side of tater tots. I recommend that they cut the portion size down and charge less.... $5 for a portion too large to be considered a side is overkill.
Also, they tasted like old oil, and so did the bun.
Burger doesn't seem to be a fresh hand made patty - its tough like it's either one of those frozen patties that you can throw right on the grill, or it was overworked when it was pattied out. Not a good, fresh burger texture.
The cheese was placed on the patty, then the tomato and lettuce were placed on top of the cheese. This is a burger faux pas. The cheese should not come in contact with cold veggies...it makes it watery and affects the flavor. It should be under the meat. Bun, cheese, meat, tomato, lettuce, bun. Even fast food joints like Whataburger know this....
Portions are large, but overall, I feel that I overpaid for mediocre food. Primarily, the old oil taste is what sealed the deal as a place I'll never...
Read moreStopped in here last night with my boyfriend and a friend of ours, and by all means this place was absolutely the best!! The lady working the cash register last night is the owner, she is gorgeous, so sweet and personable.. she makes it a point to learn your name before you leave. The restaurant is family owned, and has the ambiance of family- so when you walk in, immediately you feel welcomed. We all loved our food, and left very very satisfied. Our burgers were huge and absolutely delicious, as well as our fries (they have SEVERAL options too not just for fries but for everything!). At the counter, there’s fresh baked goods and of course my boyfriend couldn’t stay away from the brownies… he said that it was so yummy!. Southwells is good, Whataburger is good, and all on San Felipe so it’s close by to our house and convenient since it’s walking distance… but Cliffs was BETTER!!. Blew everything out of the water!. I never knew they were there until last night, but now we have found our new burger spot especially for the prices. Definitely going back and I definitely recommend especially if you are stopping in from Ron’s Pub!!. Ps: they cater too, so even more convenience and yumminess in...
