An Exceptional Foodie Experience at Common Bond.
I recently had the pleasure of having brunch at Common Bond, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the warm welcome to the incredible flavors, this place truly stands out, and here’s why.
For starters, the service was impeccable. I really appreciated that the staff was knowledgeable about their menu and showed a sense of urgency overall. They were courteous, and accommodating, and ensured that every need was met promptly and with a genuine smile. Whether explaining the menu or suggesting pairings, their professionalism immensely improved the overall dining experience.
Under the outstanding management of Liza Parada, the restaurant operates like a well-oiled machine. The ambiance was inviting, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the restaurant. Liza's dedication to ensuring patrons have an unforgettable dining experience is commendable and reflected in the restaurant's seamless operations.
The food options here are simply outstanding. Every pastry and dish I had were amazing. From the eggs benedict to the soft scramble, you’ll see why they have one of the best brunch menus in Houston. I also enjoyed their triple chocolate cookie and their pistachio croissants for dessert. You can tell they only use high-quality, fresh ingredients. I highly recommend trying the quesadilla chilaquiles—it was an absolute standout and a testament to the chef's expertise.
Last, I’ll say the coffee at Common Bond deserves special mention. I’m not a usual hot coffee drinker, and will usually get whatever regular iced coffee an eatery may have. Not here. Thanks to Liza’s recommendation, I enjoyed their iced salted caramel latte. Whether you're a coffee enthusiast or not, checking out their coffee selection is a must. And if not that, I would also recommend their hibiscus lemonade.
The bottom line is, this place exceeded my expectations in every aspect. It's a one-of-a-kind spot, that seamlessly blends exceptional service, great tasting food, and an inviting atmosphere. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great brunch experience that will positively surprise you and leave a...
Read moreThis place gets a lot of business and it certainly affects their service. We had a disappointing experience.
Food: 3 stars. We had biscuits and gravy and a nashville hot chicken sandwhich. Chicken was a bit dry but had a nice crunchy texture. It was barely a "hot" sandwich with not that much spice, on par with a mild from the competition in town. The best part about it was the fresh pickles. The biscuits and gravy looked amazing, the eggs were perfectly cooked, however the biscuits was a bit on the sweet side, and the gravy was lacking flavor.
Service: 1 star. bad experience! Food delivered fine, however... we were waiting for a friend to meet us so, after eating, order a carafe of mimosas and a kouign amann. After waiting almost 30 minutes, we approached the counter to inquire about our mimosa carafe. They insisted that it had been delivered and requested proof of purchase via receipt, despite not giving us a receipt. We proved the purchase by logging into the bank app, which showed the $25.97 charge (mimosas, pastry, 20% tip), after which they delivered a carafe but still insisted that they had made and delivered the drinks. Ok??? Occam's razor would suggest the staff during a busy Saturday delivered the order to someone else, which is understandable, and then accused us of inefficient, petty mimosa thievery, which is not.
atmosphere: 3 stars. always packed on a sunny Saturday brunch. Cafeteria style service with supposed food and beverage delivery. If you're waiting for coffee, you're in the middle of everyone's way.
It's difficult to anticipate a scenario in which I'll be coming back to...
Read moreCame here with a few friends and each got a beverage and a snack. We truly enjoyed our beverages but unfortunately the treats and plates were underwhelming and almost offensive. We ordered a pistachio croissant, a brown butter chocolate chip cookie, and their croque monsieur explosion. We asked for our treats to be warmed up, a friend asked them to warm her cookie up a second time since it hadn’t felt warm, and my warmed croissant was cooler room temperature on the inside. Our friend had ordered a croque monsieur dish to which the woman in the front responded “that’ll take 10-15 minutes to cook do you still want it?” To which my friend agreed. Once the dish arrived my friend began to eat but we noticed something was quite chewy. We opened the lid off and knew there would be a creamy bechamel sauce, and the cheese seemed cooked but we found that the biscuit / bread was raw. The dough was stretchy and undercooked and the dish tasted similar to an undercooked chicken pot pie. Not only did we think the dish didn’t taste well, but it was raw. We took the item inside and let the woman know the dish was raw but told “it’s just cheese.” My friends are very kind women but studied and received degrees in culinary art and even I as someone who’s never worked in food, must say that was not cheese. She proceeded to head into the back and NO OTHER EMPLOYEE would speak to us again until after we received a refund for an item we did not eat because it was raw. It was very unpleasant and unfortunate as I consider myself a regular Common Bond customer but I will no longer visit another...
