UPDATE 09/19/2022:
Can't give this place enough praise. Great location by River Oaks and Rice Military. When we arrived, the place was busy (but that's expected for great food and location). Well worth parking a couple of blocks away (there are neighborhoods across Durham and Shepherd) and walking over - even in this heat. This time my party of 6 were there to try out the brunch menu. It's served from 11-3 on BOTH Sat and Sun - how awesome is that??? It was a condense version of their main menu but had a little bit for everyone from the crazy gigantic chicken fried chicken, chicken waffles (my 2 boy's favorite from the old location and it still is their favorite. They claim its even better now!), the brisket scramble (PHENOMENAL!!) to the cool "Indian Curry Flight", which is a great sampling of their popular curry dishes.
Service from the limited staff - hey, it's the Covid effect - was great. Talk to every restaurant manager and they will tell you good staff is hard to find and keep. The folks here were very accommodating, pleasant, and attentive, even with a full house. I may be a little bias because I love this place. We had a great time and will be back for the rib-eye kebabs!!!

Been going to Cowboys and Indians for years and I can say with excitement, I LOVE THIS NEW LOCATION!!! Awesome interior with plenty of room (great if you have young ones) and the patio area . . . fantastic! This place is perfect for my big family (and a great place to have business meetings as well, which I have done many times). The music isn't too loud and the staff is always professional and tentative. Now to the food - love everything on the menu. You can't go wrong from the Meat Samosa to the Kebabs. New items like the Kebabs, Chicken Karahi and beef Nihari are excellent. I would post photos but my family and business partners always started eating before having the opportunity. I highly...
Read moreBeing from Texas and recently being introduced to Indian food, I've been wanting to try this place out, passed by it 10-20 times, or so. The other day, I was in the River Oaks area and craving Pani Puri, so I googled which restaurants serve it, spoiler- not many in that area. When I cam across it in the menu at Cowboys and Indians I thought, perfect! I headed over there. Upon entering, I saw a nicely decorated restaurant, with a welcoming interior. We were greeted by a very nice individual whom sat us outside on the patio and helped us throughout the meal. The server was very pleasant and helpful, even explained as much as he could, he was a recent addition to the team. We promptly ordered 2 dishes including the pani puri that we had been craving. The food came out quite fast and looked good, but different from what we expected. I hate to say it, but the flavor was quite dull and didn't have much kick. Typically the street food come out rather spicy, which was what I hoped for, and even requested while ordering. The dish came out with 4 ramekins filled with ingredients, chickpeas and 4 sauces. While I'm accustomed to having the panu puri come with a spicy water (used to fill the delectable treat with), having the "puff come empty" and only having a chickpea filling plus 3 sauces, was suprising. The 3 sauces, one being the spicy water, typically minty, came out very bland, and almost tasted just like plain water. The ither dish we ordered was supposed to have grilled okra, but came and had the appearance that it was cooked in a pan (see pic). This restaurant has a great atmosphere and very friendly staff, but from my experience, did not have Indian food prepared or served as I've come to expect certain dishes to be, they also came with very muted flavors. If you're not looking for anything to spicy or strong, this might be a good introduction to Indian flavors, but it wasn't "typical" Indian food, as I've...
