I went to Franks for breakfast, hoping to enjoy a nice meal and a cup of coffee. Boy, was I in for a surprise. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a strong smell of nail polish remover. I thought maybe they were doing some renovations, but no, that was just the normal aroma of Franks. I decided to give them a chance and sat down at a table.
I asked the waitress if I could order just one piece of French toast, since I wasn't very hungry. She looked at me like I was crazy and said no, they only serve two pieces or four pieces. I guess they have a strict policy of wasting food at Franks. I ordered a chicken and veggie omelette and a half stack of French toast, since they wouldn't let me order just one piece.
The coffee arrived first, and it had a weird chemical taste to it. It reminded me of the nail polish remover smell. Maybe they use the same liquid for cleaning the tables and making coffee at Franks. I took one sip and pushed it away. The waitress noticed and asked me if there was anything wrong with the coffee. I said no, it was fine, but I lied. It was awful.
The omelette and the French toast came next, and they looked decent enough. They tasted fine, but nothing spectacular. They were just plain dishes with some chicken, veggies, and syrup on top. Nothing to write home about. The service was friendly, though, so I gave them some credit for that.
Overall, I would not recommend Franks to anyone looking for a good breakfast place. Unless you like the smell of nail polish remover and the taste of chemicals, you are better off going somewhere else. Franks is a two-star...
Read moreWhen I first ate here, it was about a year or so ago, and it was completely different back then. Over time, the quality of the food has gone down and the service and atmosphere has followed with it. To be fair, I will give examples of I noticed over time and what caused us to outright leave the last time we tried to go. The food, especially the chicken wings my girlfriend would try with her waffles was nearly tasteless. Imagine going to a fried chicken place, got some wings and the batter was tasteless and the chicken had no seasoning. That was her experience here, at least twice. It seems a lot of their meats are the same way. The pancakes, eggs and other items that can be doctored up with syrup or hot sauce are ok. The decorum in there also needs an update. The booths shift and move when you sit in them. They are ripped and some have a smell as though they don't get wiped down. On this note, the cleanliness of this place has taken a dive. Last weekend we decided to give it another try. As soon as we walked in, it smelled like a combination of dirty mop water and sewage. It was to the point of almost tasting it in the air. We wanted to give it a shot, but the smell was simply too strong, so we ended up having to simply leave and go somewhere else. If you are the owner or work here, please know we really liked this place at one point, but just take into consideration what is here as someone who wants to come back when you've made some changes...
Read moreFirst of all, let me say, this is my first time rating a restaurant, but I feel it's necessary, because I have strong mixed feelings about this place, and I dont know how else to get the management's attention. I have been coming here on a fairly regular basis since I relocated to this part of town for the last year. I've probably been here every day of the week, as I often come here during my lunch break from work and have been here a few times on the weekend. Now, before I go any further:, to potential patrons: the food is great. It's delicious and economical. 5 stars as far as food. The servers, at worst are okay, at best, excellent. My only issue, and reason for this review's par rating is that for about the last month, it seems the food has been taking much longer to arrive (like 45 Mins!) while the servers seem harried, and I just dont expect that on a weekday. I usually have the same waitress. She's very sweet and accommodating, but I can tell she's doing all she can, given being understaffed. I had a client with me on Monday and was embarassed that he had to extend our lunch hour because the food took so long. When we asked our apologetic waitress if there was a manager present, (we assumed there wasn't) she pointed to a blond lady at the register. We never would hav e guessed that she was a manager. Anyway, she dissappeared and we waited as long as we could, but she...
