Fu’s Garden – Great Lunch Spot with Friendly Service and Comforting Food
I recently visited Fu’s Garden for lunch and had an overall great experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful, low-key spot to enjoy a tasty and affordable meal, this place is definitely worth checking out.
First off, the customer service was excellent. Everyone was kind, attentive, and made the experience feel warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was calm and quiet, making it a great place to grab lunch if you need a break from the usual hustle.
The orange chicken was the star of the meal for me. I asked for it extra crispy because I’m a little picky about chicken texture, and they nailed it—it had great flavor and the perfect crunch. Their fried rice was also delicious—well-seasoned and full of flavor. If you’re looking for a satisfying combo, that’s a great way to go.
As for the soup and spring rolls, they weren’t really my thing. The soup just didn’t hit the mark for me personally, and the spring rolls were okay, but nothing memorable. I also tried the dumplings, which were pretty good, but they only offered pork dumplings. Since I’m not a big fan of pork, I struggled with them a bit, though I could still tell they were well-made.
The restaurant itself is very clean, and I really appreciated that. The tables were super cute—a nice little detail that made the space feel cozy and charming. While the interior might be a little outdated, I actually enjoyed the look. It has that kind of nostalgic, old-school charm that makes you feel at home.
All in all, Fu’s Garden is a solid choice for a casual, affordable lunch with good food and great service. If you’re into classic Chinese-American dishes and a relaxed setting, it’s definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back for that orange chicken and fried...
Read moreI agree with others that the quality of this restaurant has declined in recent years. Yesterday, I wanted to dine at nearby Cafe Panda Garden, but failed to realize they aren’t open on Saturdays. I decided against my better judgement to go to Fu’s Garden, although my experiences there have been mixed. Well, I show up and stand there, waiting to be seated. There were no waitstaff present in the dining area, and I guess the lady at the counter thought it was beneath her to seat me. After what felt like two or three minutes, she finally acknowledged my presence and took me to a table. If I wasn’t hungry, I would have walked out at that point. Actually, I wish I had. The waiter with the bad attitude came out and took my order. I’ve dealt with him before and agree with others that he can be very rude and unfriendly. Kinda sad when the guy who refills your water has more courtesy and professionalism than anyone else who works there. Anyway, I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken lunch special. It was mediocre at best. Like others have mentioned, this “spicy” dish tasted sweet and kinda weird, actually. The spring roll was disgustingly bad. It was mushy. I don’t remember their spring rolls being that awful before. I took my time eating lunch and the waiter seemed to be irritated, not sure why. It was not that late in the afternoon and it’s not like they needed me to vacate the table, as there were only like four other tables occupied. I have decided to give up on this place. I will either dine at nearby Cafe Panda Garden, or at Rice...
Read moreI came in for the family deal on a Wednesday evening and ordered beef with broccoli which was ok. But if I eat at a Chinese restaurant what I really enjoy is the hot & sour soup. But it’s not good here.
First off, the soup is not substantial. While the flavor is good, it is little more than corn-starch thickened broth. It was vegetarian base with small julienne strips of tofu, bamboo shoots, and very little fungus. This soup also had quite a lot of white pepper which caused my lips to burn afterwards. Next came the appetizers:
A spring roll, cheese puff, shrimp toast and you’re served one piece each. The spring roll had only cabbage inside so was not flavorful. The cheese puff was also just cheese and fried dough (completely lacking in flavor). The shrimp toast was unlike anything I’ve ever had before (and not in a good way); I would not eat their “shrimp toast” again, either. Had I eaten this meal as take-out I would have rated 1-star but table service was acceptable so I granted an extra star.
The beef with broccoli was fine (the broccoli could have been a little more cooked). Would I eat here again? No, probably not, the minimal effort taken to provide something presented as a “deal” turned out to be additions to the meal which I would never pay for or order again at...
