Read moreMy rating is solely on service since we didn’t even get to try the food. We (family of 11 total) went on Sunday, January 22nd (during lunar new year). We tried calling beforehand to see if we could make reservations and no one answered after calling multiple times. We decided to still go and see how long wait time would be since we had heard great things about this place. When we got there there were three parties ahead of us, two pretty big parties and one party of two people, so we decided to jot our name down since we didn’t think we would wait too long. The first two larger parties were seated within the first 20 minutes we were there (more bigger parties started coming in after we did). We started to notice a problem when the party of two, a Caucasian couple, was not seated after about 45 minutes we where there even though we could see plenty of empty tables. After they were seated a larger party that arrived after us was seated (all Asian guests), which left us confused but we assumed that maybe they had made a reservation. We waited about 15 more minutes before we asked the host (older gentlemen up front) about how much longer it would take. That was when my sister noticed our name had been crossed as if we had been seated. The host then mentioned something along the lines that the larger party they seated had said we had left so they got seated instead. We don’t know what happened exactly, but this so unprofessional. We never heard my sisters name called so there was no reason to cross her name off. He then proceed to say our table was getting prepared and would be ready soon. 20 minutes go by and our table is not ready yet. We went to talk to the gentleman again and he said that our table will actually take longer and he wasnt sure how long. At this point we were fed up and super hungry, so we decided to leave.
I am not the one to write negative reviews but this experience really left us shocked. We have never had this problem at any Asian restaurant we’ve been to! Yes, we know you’re busy but there are better ways to serve potential customers. We were 11 hungry people! Our bill was going to be quite big = good business! I don’t know if we will go back to give it another chance but customer service was horrible. From our Hispanic eyes, it seemed like he was putting Asian customers above us, but we don’t know for sure. It smelled so good, and we LOVE Asian cuisine, but once again, I’m not sure if we will go back due to the way we were treated.
By the way, the waiting area had no seats at all, so we were waiting for about 1.5 hours...
Read moreI'll start with, I was disappointed and here's why... When I walked into the restaurant, I watched the Maitre d size me up from head to toe, and that was very uncomfortable. I already knew this was going to be interesting. I asked for a table for 2 and she told me there were no tables and I would have to wait. I proceeded to ask if there was a list, and only at that point did they hand me the waiting list 😡
Miraculously, the worst table in the restaurant became available (it was after we were done eating, we realized that they had actually added in an extra table). The table was shoved against a wall (these are round tables) and it was in between the doors that open to the kitchen (which is VERY often) and the doorway leading to the restrooms. Here's the interesting part, another party walked in after me, and they gave them the better table in front of ours even though they both became available at the same time. I'll pause here...
Food: We opted to do the dumpling menu. Everything we got was delicious with the exception of the bok choy dumplings. Also, I could have gladly skipped the fried veggie egg rolls and the fried dumplings. We got the #1, #4 and the fried shrimp dumplings. For dessert, we have the famous lava buns and they were a big hit. I brought them home, and everyone loved them.
Service: So we sat and sat and pondered over the menu while we saw other waitstaff assisting others. When one finally came over, I asked her to help us, and she did, so we were finally able to order. Each set of dumplings came out after a LONG wait. We would be done eating and just sit and wait and wait. I did not care for the service!!! A lady who was dressed like a manager did come by and was very pleasant...she even refilled our teacups.
Ambiance: it's a nice space... clean and spacious, and it felt formal.
Cost: lunch for 2 and tea was $56
Summary, like I started out saying, I was disappointed. I had heard so much about the restaurant and the service left me wanting. I was so over it that I didn't even remember to take pictures. I'll also caveat this... they probably don't make their money from people like (meaning I'm not their typical customer), and I definitely felt the difference. Next time, if I have a craving for Chinese, I'll order to go and enjoy the food in the...
