Good bbq/mac to ME: smokey flavor, marble cut brisket with bark, and tender ribs; baked and cheesy mac Hoots was pretty good. The ribs were fall off the bone tender yet approaching being dry if that makes sense. There’s a sticky-sweetish sauce on them, but not too much or overbearing. The brisket was pretty decent. It had decent marbling and all slices had bark around them, which I like. A slice or two were dry, the two in the back, but not overly dry. The last slice must’ve been a different batch bc it was extremely salty and tasted burnt so I couldn’t finish it. The mac and cheese looked and tasted like box mac. It was also cooler than lukewarm but not cold. It was pretty dry and not a lot of cheese or flavor. They give two slices of bread, pickles, onions, bbq sauce, and jalapeños. The sauce was more pungent tasting than sweet, but it was okay. I prefer bbq that doesn’t need sauce but I used it for the last of the brisket. The cashier wasn’t friendly but she wasn’t rude either, a bit monotone. Would I return? Yes, but I’m in no rush to. I’d say give them a try, though. It’s good bbq overall.

I have been on the hunt for an old school chicken barbque plate lunch. Google referred me to Hoot's. It's been a while since I've been, however I have to say I was disappointed. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate lunch with dirty rice and potato salad as sides. I made the order online and it was ready when I arrived. The chicken was underdone and appeared to be reheated. It did not taste fresh and had a rubbery texture. The sauce is a doctored up version of Sweet Baby Ray's with some seasoning and apple juice. The sides were bearly big enough to be samples. Although the potato sald was the tastiest part of the meal. The dirty rice was bland and cold. For $11 including the value is certainly there but considering the chicken and sides I'd say it was not worth it.

Four coworkers and I placed an order for pick up, and all commented that the meat was more like jerky and salty. The sides were not liked by anyone either. I personally ordered a chopped beef baked potato, and without a doubt, it was the worst one I have ever had. It was dry overall... there was no butter added, barely any cheese, only got a dab of sour cream on the side and wasn't given any sauce. Coworker didn't use their bbq sauce, and I tried it on potato but didn't make it any better. Basically, it's $18 thrown down the trash because I barely ate some of the potato. I am very disappointed because the reviews are overall good. There is nothing worse than expecting a good lunch and having to stay hungry. Picture is what I didn't eat.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but I believe honest feedback and constructive criticism are both positive things. Hopefully my experience will ultimately help this business. I moved into the neighborhood not long ago and saw the nice reviews for Hoot’s. I came in and ordered loose cut brisket and chicken with green beans and potato salad. The person taking my order wasn’t negative or mean or sour or anything like that, but she didn’t seem too happy to be there. Not sure if she heard me ask for the brisket loose cut, but when it came out it was more like beef jerky. It was dry as heck homie. In their defense, it was 4 on a Sunday afternoon, and even the best and most moist brisket goes dry pretty fast. It was still pretty tasty, considering. The chicken was very moist and tender, but didn’t have nice flavor like the beef had, and the skin tasted kinda funny. Hard to describe, but the smoke flavoring was just kinda off. Not sure if it was the seasoning or what, just kinda weird, bland. The green beans were oily and not super flavorful, and the potato salad was mealy and sweet like it was made with Miracle Whip. No hate to the miracle whip folks, just not my thing, and the potatoes, like the green beans and chicken just didn’t have a super compelling flavor profile. All in all not terrible. Just kinda off, the whole experience. Food came out with a spoon, no fork. They give you a tiny to go container of sauce. They give you three pickles wrapped up in some paper with onions. I’m all for being fiscally responsible, but come on guys. This is Houston and you’re a barbecue joint, and the meal cost $20. Anyway like I said, not a wholly terrible experience. The brisket had nice flavor, even though it was dry as hell. I bet it would have been pretty awesome if they came through with the loose cut like I asked. All good, glad I...

Found this pace just by Googling BBQ near me. A winner for sure!! I was a little skeptical with not seeing any customers not sure why, the food is amazing! Service is excellent with the food to match. I ordered the three-meat combo with mac and cheese and green beans for a side. They were out of turkey, but I had sausage, brisket and chicken, all three were excellent! The chicken was so moist all the way through, I've never had bbq chicken like that. The green beans were "soft" and well seasoned as they should be. Mac and cheese had just enough cheesy and tasted great. Also with my meal, I was able to get the special of the day which was a loaded beef potato.l for FREE! :) Needless to say, I have more than enough food for a few days!! The taste of the baked potato I had was great as well, definitely a decent size...oversized! Overflowing with chopped beef and bacon! Loved everything at this little spot, and...
