Decided to try this restaurant since we were in the area. Kind of disappointed with the food and service. Food was okay at most but definitely nothing compared to Aaga or any other comparisons that have been made in the reviews. It is more of a takeout spot not necessarily for a dining in, but we did see a couple of families getting a late night munch. Their servers seemed a little inexperienced and the service was not great. We had to get their attention several times and ask for things took long to get their attention and the place was not even that busy. They seem to be just busy amongst themselves. It took about 30 minutes to get our food hence the weight was quite long and we were wondering how long it had been since we placed our order. Most importantly they charged us for a mixed grill when we really ordered a chicken grill which wasn’t as big of a deal, but it left us wondering if we got the right food or not even our main course was a curry korma but they charged us for butter chicken instead And at the checkout they just seemed to be a big confusion if they charged us for the right table or not. And most concerning was that while we placed a chicken grill platter, the guy was pretty convinced that he didn’t serve that and served us beef instead which left me thinking that yeah. I wonder why he didn’t take down the order instead of pretending to memorise it and guessing it. Anyway, I think this was a one time deal don’t think we will be back here again and certainly not for the value of money and food. The portions were small and they don’t serve rice. We ordered rice separately as a jeera rice but they got plain rice first then they got jeera rice after we explained and it wasn’t even that large as you can see in the pictures that is what we paid like five bucks for a really small serving of rice, which is usually complementary with a Curries. As we were checking out, he did claim that we could’ve gotten everything that we paid for right now for 1499 for lunch which I don’t know how that makes me feel But yeah, not coming...
Read moreI recently had the most delightful experience at Hyderabadi Chai & Grill, and it's truly a hidden gem for authentic Indian street food and more! This place is fantastic, especially for a late-night dinner after a movie, as they're open till 2:00 AM.
The moment you walk in, the hosts are incredibly courteous and welcoming, setting a warm and inviting tone. The atmosphere is vibrant and clean, making for a very pleasant dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the food – it's simply excellent! I've tried several dishes, and each one has been a hit. The "Hyderabadi Goat Karahi" is a must-try; it's incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. Their "Chicken Schezwan" and "Chicken Manchurian" were also really good, showcasing authentic Mumbai-style flavors. I'm quite particular about naan, and their "Garlic Naan" is one of the best I've ever had – perfectly crisp yet soft. The "Shrimp fried rice" is also highly recommended.
For dessert, both the "Kaddu ka Halwa" and "Gajjar ka Halwa" are absolutely divine. What truly impressed me was the freshness of the food; everything is made to order, ensuring top quality. The service is great, with attentive and friendly staff who make you feel valued. There's also plenty of free parking, which is a convenient bonus. Hyderabadi Chai & Grill is a definite go-to spot for delicious, authentic Indian cuisine and...
Read moreI ended up Hyderabadi chai and grill by chance and too pretty late almost around mid night, the ambience and the environment is pretty welcoming and simple, I already had my dinner so the plan was to drink tea, when I asked for tea , they said tea was out of stock. I was bit disappointed was checking out the rest of the menu so as to try in my next visit and the guy comes out of the kitchen says he can prepare the tea from scratch only if I can wait for 10 minutes, just hearing that refreshed me, he took the order, I did my waiting and finally when tea arrived it was just amazing, was so aromatic and well-balanced, with just the right amount of spices. The tea was served hot, and the creamy texture complemented the strong flavors beautifully.
The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, happily recommending their favorites. The combination of flavorful tea and a cozy atmosphere makes this spot perfect for both casual meet-ups and quiet moments of relaxation.
Overall, Hyderabadi Chai and Grill is a must-visit for anyone in Houston looking for authentic Hyderabadi chai in a welcoming setting. Highly...
