Read moreI was really excited to see a full Vietnamese restaurant open in this neighborhood to provide some variety from all the chicken, pizza and hamburger places.
I found the food to be well prepared and very tasty. The pork rolls were fried to a perfect crunch and were stuffed with a good portion of pork and other tasty and fresh ingredients . It was also nice that you can get the various rolls in a half order of two rolls instead of having the option to order a plate of four or more rolls. I also had the beef pho which was flavorful, filling with a fair amount of tender beef slices included. However, the restaurant determines how much bean sprouts, basil and jalapeños will be added to you bowl of pho as they come already mixed in with the soup as it is served to you. I was disappointed that I was not given a separate plate of these ingredients and allowed to mix my desired quantities into the pho.
I was also surprised at the minor delay that I experienced in having my food prepared and delivered to my table. In most Vietnamese restaurants the food is served to you within 10 minutes of your order. Despite the restaurant not being busy, it took over 15 minutes to receive my food. The atmosphere of the restaurant is open and inviting with plenty of tables and a pleasant large mural of an Asian boat at the far end. There is also outdoor seating for when the weather is nice, however, the view across the street (Durham) is a a lot full of cars for an auto dealership. The prices were what you expect these days. My pork rolls, pho, a Vietnamese beer, and a tip ran...
Read moreThe space is attractive, and the place is quite child-friendly. There was some confusion about the computer system but I'm sure the staff will get better at it. They made up for it with their friendliness and attentiveness. I had the lemon chicken vermicelli bowl; my friend had the Cornish game hen with 5-spice powder. Both were really good, the servings were substantial, and the prices were very reasonable. Oh - the "house special" drinks (Cosmopolitan and Old Fashioned) were very well done, and $5 at happy hour. Total price, +/- $40.00. We will be back. After a second visit, some comment: the food is still good, but the staff, though friendly, need some serious training. The poor guy at the register didn't know the beverage menu, and the staff totally forgot my hot tea. It was cold inside, and the tables/chairs outside, next to Durham, were covered with a film of road haze and needed a wipe down. Another, annoyance - the napkins were skimpy, and hard to dig out of...
