I came to fizz on last Friday and had a horrible experience. I walked in at 6:34p. Hannah at the front desk asked me if I had a preference of techs… two of them were at the back desk looking at their cell phones. I asked for Steven. When she went to tell him, there was a loud conversation in a foreign language. All the techs in the room glanced in my direction. The one sitting next to him spent minutes laughing while Steven remained looking at his phone with one headphone in his ear. Another tech, Kim came to do my pedicure. Hannah came back eventually stating that Steven said he is waiting on a client and the only other tech that would be available to do my nails when she was done with her current customer was Lynn who is new and did not know how to do a gel overlay (what I asked for). She told me that I could only get shellac when she is done. I sat there from 6:34p to 7p waiting for Lyn to help me while Steven sat at the desk looking at his phone and talking to the other tech next to him. Lyn started my nails at 7p, she was kind and asked me if I was okay after I expressed to Kim that I was upset about how I was being treated, they both apologized. It honestly felt like discrimination and without saying this aloud Kim told me a random story about a black man that has treated her very nice. I’m not upset with Kim as she obviously thought sharing this story would make me feel comfortable. While I am happy to hear that she has had a great experience with someone of color, in this moment it almost validated how I was feeling. Steven left at 7:15 and his “client” never showed up. There was no apology or a conversation. I told Hannah that I needed contact information to file a complaint and she told me that they didn’t have any so I had no choice but to go to google. When I first start coming here, I loved this place. I thought it was diverse and welcoming. John, who I think is the manager and wasn’t there at the time can testify that I would bring new people with me when I came for services. I literally drive from the gulf gate area all they way to the heights to go to this Nail shop because I believe in patronizing businesses that threat you with fairness and dignity. The customer service here is has become less than favorable…. And my trips there have dwindled. After this incident I will...

Read moreThis was my second time at the Fizz location in the Heights: the first time was a 5 star service, the second was a 2 star service, so it averages out to 3 stars. My first time was fantastic for a gel manicure! The first time was with a gaggle of girls with a reservation. The large location was easily able to fit all of us easily. The pedicure chairs have massage functionality (ahhh!). They were able to accommodate my special request for hand painted detail (I showed them a picture from Pinterest, and they replicated the complicated design beautifully. My gel manicure started to chip around week 5, and I finally revived it at week 6 (great quality manicure: I'm also not hard on my nails). The second time I went by myself and had significantly lesser quality service (the check out employee made sure to clean up my skin around the edges when the technician had left some color on my skin around and under several of the nails the second time I went. Since she did this final polish check on her own unprompted, I appreciate the attention to detail and the quality control to fix it before I left). My appt was actually supposed to be for another gel manicure, but the technician suggested I do a dip, claiming that it would be stronger and last longer (3 weeks specifically is what she told me for the dip). By day 5, two nails had a crack in the polish (not my nail, only the polish was cracked) and two were chipping at the edges! Highly disappointed with the quality, especially given that I found out when I checked out that the dip cost more than my original plan for a gel manicure (the technician didn't warn me even though I had told her that I had never had a dip before). They offer you a drink while you get your nails done (only negative is that it's in styrofoam cups rather than a clear plastic, which felt a bit off for the wedding party, but I didn't mind when I went by myself). Variable quality of service. Highly recommend for gel polish,...
