Los Catrachos Restaurant — Restaurant in Houston

Today’s adventure and new spot try out. As you already know, we love trying new spots. Especially a nice hole in the wall places that are often over looked. But this one is worth a stop.

Thing to know: This isn’t a Mexican restaurant spot, it’s a Honduran based restaurant. So the flavors and names of items will be similar, yet different.

On our visit it was very hot inside and not much cooler outside. Not sure if the A/C was broken or just our luck. So if you’re planning a visit, you may want to go in the evening as it will be cooler than mid day in our Texas heat.

If you can over look the heat, small parking lot, and the front. It’s a wonderful restaurant!

Service was great!! She consistently checked on us to make sure we were ok and didn’t need anything more.

The “Plata Catracha” (vid and pic uploaded) is the like end all be all to appetizers! LOL it literally comes with a little of everything. Nachos, 4x Taquitos, 3x Pupusas (gorditas), 2x meats - Beef Fajita and Pork (carnitas) that are char grilled and loaded with flavor. Along with a fried plantain to top it all off.

The sides included with the above, include like a sweet hot sauce, pickled grilled onions, a type of coleslaw, and pico de gallo.

This was a great item for a first time visit to try a little of everything and find what you like. With everything we tried, I don’t believe there’s a dish you won’t enjoy playing on what you know you already enjoy from your favorite Mexican restaurants.

Lastly for the price, it can’t be beat in the times we are currently in. Average plate is about $10 bucks here. The appetizer was $30 approximately.

The food I order every time here at this restaurant is always really good. My favorite thing to order here, the baleada, is always full of the ingredients I enjoy eating and not just a piece of tortilla with almost nothing on it. The ingredients here are always fresh and is hot and ready whenever we pick up our orders for pickup or simply dine there. Whenever we choose to go pick up our food, the estimated time they tell us when our food is ready to go pick is mostly accurate, and we don’t have to wait an extra layer of time for our food when we arrive at the restaurant. The staff there is also really nice and patient when we order there. They will patiently wait if there are errors with our food and talk to us with a happy tone, making the ordering experience here more pleasurable. Overall, I definitely recommend eating here as the food is really good (will not be disappointed with the variety of foods offered here) and the staff and assistance here is very well structured...

Been trying to order from this place. They finally answered the phone. I said I'd like to place a to go order. The woman replied, "No speak English, sir," and then just hung up. Is this how business is conducted at this place? Are these guys so overwhelmingly successful that they only cater to Spanish speakers?
