I have eaten a lot of Bun Bo Hue in my life. Its a staple dish for me when traveling, and while I almost exclusively have it when I return from a trip home in Dallas, I am visiting in Houston for a while and figured I'd give some H-Town Bun Bo Hue a try. The location is unassuming, simple, no frills. Thats how you know its going to be a good bowl of soup. Basically; if you see folding tables and a TV tuned to a random soap opera in the place, its bound to be decent. I had just a regular bowl of Bun Bo Hue (without pork blood) and a cafe sua da, both were excellent. The coffee was strong and rich, but not overly bitter or wildly sweet. The soup came out boiling hot, with a good amount of noodles and meat. The broth is perfectly salty and rich, the veggies are fresh, and the meat is the the usual, although a bit fattier than i've had at other places (not necessarily a bad thing, I like the fat) The only issue I had was that the broth itself is not very spicy, which is what I am more familiar with from Bun Bo Hue. They happily provided us with chili peppers to dose our bowls to our liking, so all in all it was a non-issue. Service was fast, everyone was polite, and prices are good. If you're looking for the classic Bun Bo Hue, this is the...
Read moreThe place has potential and the food is good. The noodle soup is served in very large deep plates. The waiter was very friendly and the bathrooms were clean. However, I was shocked by the fact that when we arrived there were no clean tables to sit on, they were all full of dirty plates and napkins. The waiter only cleaned the table that was needed to seat the people who arrived. He let the plastic container dirty set on the table. You could also see some dirty napkins and trash on the floor. The people who arrived didn't seem to care, maybe it's normal or they didn't have enough employees that day, I really don't know. In addition , was funny to see Christmas decoration at the...
Read moreA must try restaurant. Incredibly delicious pho with a great portion size. The broth is full of rich and deep flavor that warms your soul and captures the taste of home. In case your not sure what size you want they have example bowls at the front to help you decide the correct portion for yourself.
I ordered a Com Bo Luc Lac and Thai tea to take home. The Luc Lac was impressively well made with rich flavor. The Thai tea was done perfectly, with just the right level of bitter.
The staff is incredibly welcoming, kind and caring.
I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. This place is...
