I had a terrible experience at this location and the service was horrible. I went there on my lunch break because I was craving the fired fish combo. The fish was undercooked onn the inside and too hard on the out. So I asked the waitress could I have a piece fried fresh and I wanted to place another order to go for my co worker. The waitress was an older lady who really didn't understand English, so she didn't put in the request to fry 2 new pieces of fish to go instead she just brought me another piece that was hard, cold, and undercooked. So I explained to the server in the back her name was Maritza, That the food that I have already purchased was not to my satisfactory and I won it a new piece of fish and my sides were cold and the macaroni and cheese were very gummy as well as I wanted to place another order to go they act like they understood and then brought me one order to go and told me my to go order was already served to me and that she was only gonna give me what I paid for. When I try to explain the situation she then told me she's not in it and walk away a manager came out and brought me a new piece of fish to go. So by this time I'm over my lunch didn't have anything to eat and no one apologized for the inconvenience. I want be back!!!!!

They are still open! This makes me so happy!! Lunch was great yesterday. Love their fried fish! Oh, Luby’s. 😔 Maybe I should have written a review sooner. I grew up on Luby’s. Never disappointed. Today I turned 45 and I had my choice of any restaurant. Taste of Texas, State Fare, Liberty Kitchen, Steak 48 and Seasons 52 were all on my radar. I chose Luby’s because I knew this would be my last chance and I knew I would thoroughly enjoy my experience. I’m so sad this Texas tradition is ending. I purchase the HEB frozen meals to have at home, but nothing will compare to seeing the fresh food and steam on the glass as I chose my meal down that long buffet line. So long to a true love of mine. Update: my Luby’s is still open! The selections are plentiful, the flavor is great, and the service is terrific! Their fried fish is my favorite. I’m so happy I still have a Luby’s to go to near by. My personal experience today was wonderful! I wish I had the server’s name. She was fantastic. If you go to a Luby’s before they close, make sure you tip your server. They rely on those tips and my gal went above and beyond. Thank you, Luby’s. You will be greatly missed!

Got the $25 Ribeye while a good size they doused it with salt, additional .99 cents for the sautéed onions, which had a long hair included? Also, I had the spinach and mashed potatoes, which were great altogether with tea, cost me over $30, when I notified the Mgr. on duty, he said oh so sorry and left......no offer of discount or replacement. I'm just sorry, and that was it!???? What ever happened to trying to please a guest, especially when they spend $$ on the highest thing on their menu??? Now a days not even the restaurants care about you or satisfaction. Seniors, be careful of their over salty food!!!

Clean. Quiet atmosphere. Attentive Staff. Fresh food during busy hours. I chose the Chicken Fried Chicken. Broccoli Rice Casserole. Mac and Cheese. A Carrot Salad and Jalapeno Cornbread. Right away I could see that Everything was Freshly prepared and Very Appealing.

As I moved along the line, immediately I noticed that the dessert portions had DECREASED and when asked, I discovered that the Price had INCREASED, Tremendously. I wouldn't have objected to the prices but I saw Nothing deserving or Worthy of such outrageous price points. The Carrot cake was portioned as if there was only One Small Cake to serve from, to cover a Huge crowd, so when I use the Word "Sliver" to describe the smallness, I found it appauling. So, I was going to substitute it for the Strawberry Shortcake, which I Love as much as the Carrot Cake. After glancing over the dessert area carefully, I asked if they had any Strawberry Shortcake in back? The Server pointed out what actually looked like a 'MUFFIN TOP' with whipped cream around it and (2) strawberries on each side of the "Muffin". Upon closer observation I could only make out that was indeed a Muffin, cut in the center, with whipped cream in the center, that separated the two. And if that wasn't Horrible enough, the Muffin top looked burnt/very dark, no where close to being golden brown. Due to my surprise, when she pointed it out I Exclaimed: that's a Shortcake 🍰? I'll pass!

So then I noticed that there was a large pan of Bread Pudding that looked very appetizing so I asked for that instead. Again with the tiny 1/2 cup sizing (1 scoop) of whatever that serving utensil they use so readily. Moving down the line, I picked up 2 Deviled Eggs.

Now for check out, and it was after check out that I was told to step around the corner, away from check out, to bag my own food😯, I said: Excuse Me? The cashier was nice and repeated herself, then pointed out where to go to bag my food. Before I even got out of the exit door, I'd made a mental declaration to Not come back.

When I arrived home, I must admit I was really looking forward to enjoying my meal. The best thing I can say is that it held up to staying hot in the to-go box. BUT, the food was BLAND AND TASTELESS. The Carrot Salad was flavorless, I had to add a little Sugar. A mix of carrots and pineapples should have yielded some kind of flavor. The Chicken Fried Chicken was TOUGH, and when I lifted up some of the crust/batter, I found dark spots in various areas underneath, it was 'Old' meat. I managed to eat around the bad parts by drowning it in the cream gravy I chose to top it. After adding my own seasoning, the Mac and Cheese and the Broccoli Cheddar Rice was Delicious. But the Bread Pudding was ABSOLUTELY Horrible. It was too sweet and Very, Very, Mushy, like eating overcooked oatmeal with a dash of raisins.

Over half the chicken, and ALL of the Pudding went to the trash, and only 1 Egg was tolerable, because when I unwrapped it, it was unusually 'wet', had No flavor, and was also very Mushy, it was like the yolk filling had been put in a blender and 'whipped'.

After awhile maybe a couple hours later, Everything I took In, came Out (No Details) to spare the readers. ALL I CAN SAY AT THIS POINT IS TO: FIRE THE CHEF!!! I think Lubys can be Great again but they Need to be More Discriminative of their Chefs/Cooks. Because a Person can Cook does NOT make them...

So I’ve been pretty sad that most of the Lubys in Houston have closed down. However, this one is still open and I ordered from it the other night on Uber Eats. I always want pico de gallo to go on top of my baked almondine and unfortunately there is no option for that on the app. I know from ordering from other stores that I have to put in an order for a jalapeño and tell them that I don’t want the jalapeño, but I want the pico de gallo instead. I did put that in and I also asked for extra tartar sauce, and I called the restaurant after I had placed my order to make sure that they would get it right. Thankfully, someone answered the phone that put me on the phone with Liz the to go order person. She had not only already put pico de gallo in my bag, but she had also put extra of that and extra tartar sauce for me. She got my order exactly right and the best part about it was she packed the fried okra in the container with the baked Almondine so all the hot stuff was together and then all the cold stuff that I had ordered was in a separate bag. I don’t understand why restaurants don’t think about packing the cold stuff together and the hot stuff together because when you put the hot stuff with the cold stuff, it gets the cold stuff warm and gross. I loved her attitude, and I really appreciated the fact that she paid extra attention to what I had asked for in the notes on the Uber Eats app. I hope that I get her again as my to go person. She was awesome. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever ever had a meal packed as well as this one was as long as I’ve been ordering things to be delivered-thank you Liz and I want to tell you I’m sorry it took me a couple days to put this review in, but I really...

Luby's has always been my favorite place to go for as long as I can remember. Their fried fish, liver and onions and bake chicken "was" the best. Over the years the taste and hotness of the food has most definitely gone up as has the prices. I use to eat at this location for years at least 2 or 3 times a week before COVID and slowly noticed how their prices were creeping up but yet the quality of the food was declining. I still patronize it the food was just a hit or miss sometimes. Fast forward since they have reopened after COVID. I understand a lot of restaurants are charging a to go fee but they are also changing 25 cents per container for cranberry sauce and pick de gallo in addition to the plate prices being higher. Luby's you can't charge higher and additional prices if your food don't taste anywhere close to what it use to taste like. You might as well go to Texas Roadhouse, Saltgrass or Chili's to get a reasonably priced plate around $10 to $14. Let's not talk about the outrageous prices for the desserts now. I went today and ordered a combo plate along with a few containers of pico de gallo. I got home to eat and after a two bites realized the pico de gallo was spoiled thank heavens I was able to scrape it off my food so I could finish eating. The liver and onions wasnt fresh, the so called cornbread dressing today was absolutely horrible. It was bready and tasted nothing like it usually taste like. It's most definitely time for ya'll to close down ya'll have had a good run but Luby is...
