đ Canât wait until Sep to sit at their outdoor patio. A Hidden Gem in Westchase! đOh my⌠I canât believe I just now discovered this absolute gem of a coffee shop! From the moment I walked into Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co., I knew I was in for something special. The ambience is everything youâd wantâtrendy, calming, warm, clean, and incredibly inviting. The decor combines modern chic with an exotic touch, and everything is so well-organized and beautifully presented.
As you approach the counter, youâre greeted not only with a smile but also with a delightful display of Turkish desserts, almond croissants, and other freshly baked goodies that make it nearly impossible to choose just one!
Now letâs talk about the coffeeâthe true star here. I tried one of their most popular drinks, the Mufawwar, recommended by my favorite barista Claudia. She was so kind, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeableâyou can tell sheâs passionate about what she does. Even before taking a sip, the aroma of cardamom hit me, and it was absolutely intoxicating. The taste? Bold, spiced, foamy, and unlike anything Iâve ever had. Itâs strong, yet smooth and so refreshingly different. One sip and I was awake and hooked!
I also tried one of their new refreshersâthe Strawberry Dragon Fruit Drinkâwhich paired beautifully with my cheese Danish (they donât skimp on the cheese, by the way!). The Danish was golden, crisp, and melty in the middleâperfection.
They offer multiple cozy seating options, including Turkish-style couches and a spacious open floor plan so even when the place is buzzing, it doesnât feel overcrowded. Whether youâre working, catching up with a friend, or simply unwinding, this is the place. They even have a patio area, which I canât wait to try when the weather cools down a bit.
In shortâthis is one of the most impressive and standout coffee shops in Westchase, and honestly, maybe even in all of Houston. Bravo, Qamaria! Youâve won my heart (and taste buds), and Iâll absolutely be backâagain and againâto explore more drinks...
Read moreVibrant coffee, tea, and pastry shop with an international blend of familiar modern decor and unique cultural Yemeni influences that extends into its menu. As a frequenter of American third-wave specialty coffee shops, Qamaria felt like a short and fun cultural immersion into the Middle Eastern cafe scene that I would recommend to anybody looking for something adventurous but a little familiar.
Vibe: Cardamom, pistachio, and other "exotic" flavors and spices are integrated into many of the signature hot or cold drinks including coffee, tea, and refreshers. The shop is filled with the movement and lively chatter from students, friend groups, and families from multicultural backgrounds. It was refreshing, exciting, and a little off-putting, but in a novel and fun kind of way. Plenty of seating but it can get busy, especially with larger groups. There's two outside seating areas.
Drinks/food: We ordered the hot Mufawaar with no sugar, iced strawberry matcha latte, and rose milk cake. The coffee in the Mufawaar was texturally like a mix between French press and Turkish in its texture (silt in the bottom), and tasted dark, nutty, and spiced like Sumatran or Indonesian coffees. It was complemented well by the cardamom and cream they add to the drink. It's served very very hot! It pairs very well with the sweetness of the rose milk cake, but if you are getting the drink alone I would recommend adding sugar. To balance the bitterness and spices. The milk cake was good, texturally identical to tres leches cake with frosting and crumbles if rose and pistachio covering the top. Alone it's solid, but paired with coffee it is excellent. Pretty sweet and good for sharing. The iced strawberry matcha was solid, made with a commercial strawberry syrup, and not too sweet.
We had a fun time and look forward to exploring the other interesting signature drinks and pastries, like the honeycomb bread and lotus cheesecake. Might grab a bag of the Yemeni coffee beans...
Read moreI randomly drove by it tonight and there must be some type of opening because there was a lot of people! Me being the weirdo I am I was just like "hey, I'll join! Lol". I'm kind of basic so I just go for the Iced Caramel Macchiato everywhere I go lmao! Surprised they open incredibly late - which is good cause all the other coffee places close at 7-9pm lol.
This was like, $7. I could taste the shots of in this. Not sure if they have a larger size, that totally slipped my mind, but I'd grab a larger size.
This could be my "go to" for night coffee.
There's an outdoor seating out at the front and back. I honestly found it to be pretty nice. I'd bring a date here for some late night coffee if the other person was down for it haha. I think they have other stuff too. The place is super big which is nice because you don't feel too crowded.
Update: 7/23/2023 So unfortunately they only have one size. This time I got one with a triple shot. I think what would make it much better is if they had larger sizes. The extra shot cost about $2 more. So this Iced Caramel Macchiato with triple shots cost $8-$9.
Compared to Starbucks for a triple shot. It has much more punch to the taste. Although the size in volume is less than Starbucks venti size. Starbucks triple shot with the venti usually lands me at about $7-$8.
Overall, it has the punch - but if they can commit to a larger size that would really buy my business.
Update: 7/29/2023 Posted a photo of their menu at their store. Sorry, it was very clear when I took it. But uploading it onto Google maps, you can barely see the prices and details good anymore lol. But you get...
