Great looking restruant. Unfortunately not so great service nor food. Was told upon arrival that the lamb appetizer was sold out was disappointed but it happens we'll call that strike 1. After ordering chef recommended Dumplings and 3 main entree dishes to share we were off the the waiting game. We recieved an app in proper time around 13-15 min after ordering of an awesome looking wagyu egg roll thing. Looked cool but sadly 😥 was not something we ordered we'll call that strike 2. The waiter looked confused and returned the menu where we clarified we ordered the wagyu rib not the wagyu egg roll thing easy mistake we moved on. The dumpling skin was chewy and lobster meat was fishy but edible. Another 10 minutes went buy out comes the wagyu rib. Looked sad on the dish just brownish grey rib meat set on top of a bone with a mildly warm starting to coagulate brown sauce with little to no flavor. No garnish that could spruce up the texture profile or even a pinch of green onions would have made a difference another mid dish to fill our belly but nothing exciting. Looking forward for our next dishes hoping to salvage the evening. 10-20-25 minutes go by and I have to head to the host to inform her that the wait is out of range and if they have not started the dishes we would like the check. After a few minutes the manager comes buy to assure us that the dishes would be put shortly we decided to stay and recieved our much anticipated sea bass. Had a nice sear so was sure this was going to be the saving grace 👑 but was brutally rebuffed. No flavor at all not sure if there is a salt shortage in the kitchen of if the staff is cooking scared had to ask for salt and pepper (none on the table) to try and extract something out of this nice $40ish piece of fish 🐟 let's call that strike 3. 8-10 minutes after that arrives the duck dish nice and crispy and honestly Was the best dish all night the mustard side was strange considering how "purist" to China 🇨🇳 they claim to be as per other reviews. But nevertheless worth a try. The manager offered nothing to compensate for the terrible dining experience not that we were expecting anything but when dining at this caliber you depend on repeat guests which we were given no incentive to do so. We paid our $160 bill left a 20% tip and concluded our...
Read moreBeautiful restaurant poor service experience –
We visited Maison Chinoise yesterday for my granddaughter’s birthday lunch. The restaurant is new, elegant, and our waitress was very kind and attentive at the beginning. The appetizers came out quickly and all together — everything started off well.
However, the experience quickly went downhill when it came to the main courses. My son ordered the Wagyu Mongolian beef, and my granddaughter and I ordered the Peking duck (which I know takes a bit longer to prepare). His dish arrived after about 15 minutes, but ours never came. We waited and waited — another 15 minutes passed — and he was being polite, waiting to eat with us.
We called the waitress, who went to check on it, but nothing happened. Then, we spoke with one of the managers, Igor, who unfortunately handled the situation very poorly. Instead of showing understanding, he argued with us. When I explained that we wanted to eat together as a family, he insisted that “this is how it’s done in China,” and that the chef serves the food when he feels it’s ready. I explained that I’ve spent time in China and know that dishes are usually shared so everyone eats together — but he continued to argue rather than listen.
At that point, more than 30 minutes had passed since my son’s food arrived, and we still had no duck. We finally decided to ask for the check and leave. Our waitress apologized sincerely, and then the general manager, Lindsay, came over. She was professional, kind, and handled the situation exactly as a manager should. She apologized for the experience, said that what happened was unacceptable, and offered to take care of the check. I appreciated her attitude and professionalism — she was the one bright spot in the whole experience.
It’s unfortunate because the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the concept is promising. But when you visit a high-end restaurant, you expect coordinated service, respect, and attention — not arguments about basic hospitality. I truly hope they learn from this and improve, because Houston deserves better service from such a beautifully...

From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The staff was warm and welcoming, and we loved getting to know Chef Jordan, especially hearing about his time in China and his brand-new baby girl (congratulations!). He was so kind and personable, and his Peking duck was the best we’ve ever had—and that’s saying something, as we’ve even had it in China prepared by a renowned chef.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the general manager, Lindsay, whose vision for Maison Chinoise is inspiring. She’s smart, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about creating a culture that shines through in both the team and the atmosphere.
Our server, Everett, provided impeccable service, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely kind.
The ambience and décor are beautiful, the music is classy, and the space feels both elegant and comfortable, like a place where everyone knows each other. The sense of community and care is refreshing.
As for the food, everything was outstanding. The Peking duck was absolutely phenomenal, the ribs were delicious and beautifully presented, and both the pot stickers and pork wontons were fresh and perfectly made. Even the General Tso’s chicken lived up to every expectation.
We’re already looking forward to coming back and bringing friends.
Thank you for a...
