Called last Saturday and asked about ordering an ice cream cake for the following week. The person on the phone stated I could order over phone or come in then next day ( Sunday) to speak with the person who makes the cakes. I asked what time they would be there they said to come anytime between 1-9. I arrived at at 1:30 on Sunday, the employee present said the owner or cake maker was not there but he would try to call them. No answer. I filled out the form and was told the owner or cake maker would call me to confirm and get payment. I waited all day MondayâŚ..mind you this is for pick up Wednesday, and heard from no one. I called at 5:45PM Monday night, a kid answered the phone said he was a new employee and the cake wouldnât be ready it took 48 hrs. I said I ordered it Sunday and it was a wed pick up , that it was way more then 48 hrs, he said ok then it will be ready.
I said I have heard from no one, Iâm trying to pay for this cake and make sure itâs ordered or do I need to take my business elsewhere, he said I donât know and hung up on me.
I donât even know who is to blame here, an owner who is out of touch or def does not train their employees, the cake maker who def doesnât call people back, this establishment doesnât seem like it will stay in business long with...
   Read moreI absolutely love Marble Slab but this location has been the most difficult location to work with. Twice now I've had employees who have no clue how to use the rewards system and oddly enough neither of them were even new. They both told me that they've never even heard of the reward system and didn't realize they offered one!
I got there today and the store had just opened. I have worked in Food Service before and the time that the employees arrive is not the time that the restaurant opens. Unfortunately I feel like that was not the case today. The employee had just arrived and did not have anything set up yet including the mixin that I wanted in my ice cream. He would have had to leave and go to the back to get more prepared so no ice cream for me today.
The manager of this store needs to get his business in line by preparing his employees and paying them for ample time to set up and have the store ready to open. It is absolutely ridiculous for an employee to not know what's going on in a business that is as simple as ice cream! I will not return to this location, but this will not deter me from Marble Slab in general because their ice cream is wonderful and typically your service is impeccable.    Read moreDecided to run out tonight for a big weekend dietary splurge at our local Marble Slab. We grabbed our Entertainment coupon book, checking to see that our store was on the list - yup, 4526 Kingwood Drive. Waited 30 minutes in line to order our 2 large ice cream mix-ins. Get to the cash register and I am informed that the new owner does not honor any coupons. There is a hand-scrawled sign on a column behind the register, 7 ft up, stating "We don't accept any coupons". I pointed to the address on the back of the coupon, but they said the new manager identifies the store not by address but by store some number. Ok, so the sign is is located in the back, 7 ft up and 10 ft after where I ordered. I paid my $12 and told the young lady it wasn't her fault, but the sign should be up front, not way after I order. It's ok, because Bluebell is back, and $12 gets me a whole month's worth of ice cream!
As a fellow small business owner I understand not loving discount coupons. But if you buy the store, you buy the liabilities too. And if you choose not to honor the coupons, you post the sign prominently up front. No worries, next stop...
