VENDORS BEWARE: BAIT AND SWITCH PRACTICES WITH DISHONESTY

We signed up for the Kingwood Texas Store as it was opening. We contracted a 3 x 5 Space in the middle of an aisle for $125 per month. It was an attractive location, and we were excited about the opportunity.

We had purchased materials and prepared a display for this space and were preparing to move it into the facility when they contacted us and told us that our space was no longer available to us.

At first they stated that it was because of the final construction not matching the original design, and therefore there was less space. Later, they stated that it was really because they had to provide spaces to their high-priority vendors (Vendors who were in at least three of their other locations).

Later, they further stated that we were bumped because we had purchased the space later than others.

They offered an alternative space, far in the rear of the building. This space measured 3’ x 1.25’. Initially, they told us that that would also be for $125 per month.

We protested, arguing that we had originally purchased 15 ft.² of space and we’re now being offered 3.75 ft.² of space for the same price! A fair price, we said, based on the same rate per square foot would be $33 per month.

They responded by saying the lowest they would sell us this space was $75 per month.

So, we were the victims of a bait and switch, a series of dishonest statements trying to cover up their errors, and a ridiculous and unfair offer for a less than desirable space than we had contracted for.

I went in with my mother in law to check it out. Beautiful store, beautiful boutiques, reasonably price for the little I saw of the store. About 20 minutes into browsing, I get approached by two armed officers who ask me to follow them. I go with them and I am escorted to a private room with an employee who then puts a vendor on speakerphone. I am accused of stealing. I happily empty my small crossbody purse as I have nothing to hide. The police and employee look through my crumpled up receipts and trash from my purse and then go out and see all the items are still in the vendors shelf. She continues to call me a thief on the phone after the police officers and employee told her that nothing was stolen. She continued to slander my on the phone. I was let go but humiliated and angry. I asked to speak to a manager and get the name of the extremely slanderous vendor but the manager was not in store and they won’t give me her information.

When they first opened they had a great variety and the customer service was top notch, but few original employees are still there and now they just hire anyone. The last few times I was at the store the selection was horrible, booths have the same products and most are overpriced and cheap items. My daughter, niece and I were in there recently and the two employees working 5-24-2023 @ 6:00 pm treated my out of town niece and my daughter poorly, and even allowed a grown man(employee’s father and mother that she called to store to harass, follow us and verbally attack us because employee did not like my daughter) to harass my niece and daughter. I wanted to file a complaint with manager and asked for contact of manager or how to file complaint and was told if I had an issue to call police.
