The food was OK. I added a generous amount of salt to improve the seasoning. I was warned that the curry might be spicy, however, the curry tasted washed out and bland. I was hoping for something a little bit more adventurous in flavor and textures. The naan was dried out and not particularly flavorful. Otherwise, the food was decent. If you’re looking for a curry, that is OK in flavor and yet can be improved with some salt, this is the place for you. The ambience was also OK. It was a large square room that became very noisy after only a few tables arrived. The process form ordering is, walk in the door and walk up to the cash and say what it is you want to eat. The worn out menus in front of the till are text only and not completely accurate. There are no photos or descriptions available to know what you’re going to get with your meal. The gentleman who took my order, was very pleasant and quite helpful. When I paid with my credit card, it prompted me for a tip. I am always confused at being asked for a tip for service that is not provided. What service am I tipping for exactly? Nevertheless, I did tip (15%) anticipating I would receive more service than I did. My plate of curry over rice arrived, with a small basket of naan, and raita on the side in a plastic dipping tray. The portion was a little on the small side and left me hungry at the end of the meal. Prior to eating, I needed to stand up and fetch my own cutlery and paper napkins. At the end of the meal, you’re expected to bus your own table and bring your plate over to the collection point. If you are looking for a delicious curry experience you might want to keep looking. If you are just hungry, this...
Read moreFood was average or little below..Disappointed that there were no authentic flavors or spices in the food. The menu didn’t consist much of Pakistani dishes. Essentials of Pakistani cuisine includes basics like Biryani and Nihari. The menu was far from it. I walked in expecting authentic food rather it was more of a wannabe Arabic cuisine, but even that part of the cuisine was not done so well either. The kebabs were undercooked and had more onions vegetables than any sort of kebab should have. It seemed like it was recently thawed right on to the grill. Plate was mostly filled with rice and salad was placed under the two kebabs to make them look bigger than they are. With the salad all warmed up it made it not very pleasant to eat. It might suit some people, some people may prefer kebabs crunchy filled with vegetables tomatoes and onions, barely filled with meat. I just know back home from Pakistan that’s not how it’s made or how it tastes. If you are looking for real Pakistani food, maybe try somewhere else. If you don’t know what Pakistani food is and that’s not what your looking for, but just trying something that looks middle eastern without any of the real flavor or spices, maybe it’d suit your palette. People were friendly, the restaurant was nicely laid out and food was plated...
Read moreThe rave from previous reviewer rings nothing but the truth. I can personally attest that the experience eating at Maza will be a regular reoccurrence.
Foremost, the food is hands down amazing. I ordered the chicken breast bone-in ($8). The spice, and grill scent of cumin hits you and yet the chicken was tender. The naan bread was thin and crispy, a bit of crunch to every warm bite. That is something unique as I am use to having served soft. From the user review below, someone suggested the rice pudding. I am grateful for heeding the adivce, it was amazing. Most rice pudding are very sweet, but not this one. It was a splendid mix of the hearty rice, milk and right amount of sweetness. All of this only cost $18 dollars, it was definitely worth the money.
The place is cleaned, you can tell by the grill, the kitchen, the tables and chairs. Even though it is a order and pick up restaurant the workers put effort into keep it tidy.
Cherry on top that made the experience worthwhile; the owner was charismatic man. Offering no charge if I did not like the food (very unnecessary, but an admiring offer). But because of his offer, you can tell that he does care about your experience.
Please come and try the food here. You will walk in expecting little, but walking out surprise with...
